Does the Adobe Connect Add-in work with Windows 8 Classic Desktop mode?
Yes. The Adobe Connect 8 and 9 Add-ins can be installed manually or through the Lightning Installer (automatic installation from within a meeting room). In both cases, once installed a meeting room automatically opens in the Add-in.
Does Adobe Connect work with Windows 8 style user interface mode in the browser?
To play any rich media content in Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 8 style user interface mode, the site/domain must be on the Compatibility View (CV) list for Flash. The domain adobeconnect.com is in this list by default. So hosted Adobe Connect 8 and 9 hosted sites work in the browser in user interface mode. This statement is also true for Managed Service clients using acms.com. In addition, on-premise or licensed sites that are internal (behind the firewall) work in the browser. However, it's necessary that they are on same intranet.
Adobe Connect 8 sites not on the CV list (for example, sites of on-premise or licensed customers who are external) don't work in user interface mode. Customers with Windows 8 in user interface mode accessing these sites should switch to Internet Explorer 10 in classic desktop mode.
For those sites that aren't on the CV list, in a future update of Adobe Connect 9 Adobe is planning to pass the X-UA-Compatible tag. This tag asks users to switch to classic desktop mode once they visit a meeting room. No change is planned for Adobe Connect 8. Does the Adobe Connect Add-in work with Windows 8 style user interface mode?
In Windows 8 style mode, if the Add-in is detected or downloaded through the Lightning Installer, the meeting opens automatically in the classic desktop mode with no indication to the user. In a future update of Adobe Connect 9, a message will be displayed asking the user to switch to the classic desktop mode. (No automatic switching between modes exists to Adobe's knowledge). No such message is planned for Adobe Connect 8.
Can Windows 8 style user interface applications be shared in Adobe Connect?
No. Adobe plans to address this feature in a future update for Adobe Connect 9. There are no plans to address in Adobe Connect 8.
