"Error: - Adobe SwitchBoard 2.0: Install failed" while installing a CS5 product on Mac OS

Issue

While trying to install a Creative Suite 5 suite or product, the installation fails, and the failure summary and log file have the following entries:

ERROR: 36 Command ARKServiceMonitorCommand failed.
ERROR: 36 Error rolling back command ARKServiceMonitorCommand
ERROR: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR: - Adobe Mini Bridge CS5: Install failed
ERROR: - Adobe SwitchBoard 2.0: Install failed

Solution

 Recreate missing folders related to launch daemons expected by the Adobe SwitchBoard and Mini Bridge components:

  1. From the Finder, Go > Utilities.
  2. Launch the Terminal application.
  3. Type "cd /etc" (without the quotes) and press the Return key.
  4. Type "ls" (without the quotes) and press the Return key.
  5. Check to see if the list contains the item "mach_init_per_user.d". If it does, then skip to step 8. If it does not, continue with the next step
  6. Type "sudo mkdir mach_init_per_user.d" (without the quotes) and press the Return key.
  7. Enter your administrative password when prompted and press the Return key (note that no feedback is shown when entering the password).
  8. Type "cd /library" (without the quotes) and press the Return key.
  9. Type "ls" (without the quotes) and press the Return key.
  10. Check to see if the list contains the item "LaunchDaemons". If it does, then skip to step 134. If it does not, continue with the next step
  11. Type "sudo mkdir LaunchDaemons" (without the quotes) and press the Return key.
  12. Enter your administrative password when prompted and press the Return key (note that no feedback is shown when entering the password).
  13. Retry your installation.
