Missing or unreadable eBooks after upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista (Digital Editions)

Your eBook files are missing or not readable after you upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista.

When you upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista, eBook files do not transfer automatically and must be transferred manually.

Solution: Manually transfer eBooks for Digital Editions from Windows XP to Windows Vista.

Start the Windows Vista installer and select "Transfer files and settings from another Computer". Click Next.

Under "How do you want to transfer files and settings to your new computer?", select "Use a Type of Removable Storage or Use a Network."

Under "How to transfer files and settings", select the location that suits your needs:

If you are saving to a network, select "Use a Shared Network Location".
If you are saving to removable storage, choose CD or DVD, USB Flash Drive, or External Hard Disk.

Under "Where do you want to save your files?", select "Browse to navigate to the desired location on an external storage location."

Under "What do you want to transfer to your new computer?", select "All user accounts, files, and settings (Recommended)", and click Transfer.

When the data transfer is complete, click Close.

You must manually copy the from_old_computer\SaveData.MIG file to your Flash drive.

Install Windows Vista.

Transfer your data to the computer by choosing Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools, and then selecting Windows Easy Transfer.

Click Continue to allow the program access.

Click Next to start the wizard.

Locate the file you saved, generally with a name like SaveData.mig, and click Open.

Click Next and type your user name or choose one from the list. Click Next again.

If prompted to allow an exception for Windows Firewall, click Yes.

Click Transfer to begin the transfer process. Once transfer is complete, launch Digital Editions by clicking the Adobe Digital Editions shortcut.
