This document outlines the content management systems that FrameMaker 10 supports, and the various operations that can be performed on them.

FrameMaker supports two content management systems:

  • EMC Documentum 6.5 SP1
  • Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 SP2

Documentum support

Documentum has built-in support for DITA and XML. Relevant XML applications must be deployed on the Documentum server, to enable uploading XML files from FrameMaker.

  • XML/Dita files are uploaded on server with their dependencies if corresponding unique XML application is deployed on documentum server.
  • Dependencies for native files (BOOK, FM, and MIF) are automatically calculated at the time of upload. Check-in and the dependant files are also uploaded and checked in automatically along with the main file. 
  • Relative paths for these dependent files are automatically preserved and maintained in Documentum.
  • It is possible to upload other file types also, but dependency calculation is done only for FM native formats (FM/Book/MIF) and XML/DITA files.
  • All standard operations such as check in, check out, delete, view properties, view dependencies, and search for files can be performed.
  • You can set the File upload preferences from CMS > Preferences.
  • For proper operation, download and save the DFS SDK (http://developer-content.emc.com/downloads/documentum_ucf_dfs.htm) and enter the path to the SDK in preferences.

Sharepoint support

FrameMaker also supports Sharepoint as a CMS. 

  • Dependencies for native files (BOOK, FM, and MIF) are automatically calculated at the time of upload. Check-in and the dependant files are also uploaded and checked in automatically along with the main file.
  • It is possible to upload other file types also, but dependency calculation is done only for FM native formats (FM/Book/MIF) and XML/DITA files.
  • All standard operations such as check in, check out, delete, view properties, view dependencies, and search for files can be performed.
  • You can set the File upload preferences from CMS > Preferences.
