FrameMaker 10 supports the DITA 1.2 specification. This document describes how to update documents that are in DITA version 1.1 to version 1.2
FrameMaker 10 allows you to set your desired DITA version when working with DITA documents.
To set the version, click DITA > DITA Options. You can select between versions 1.1. and 1.2.
The following table indicates the behaviors of documents when opened in either of these versions.

| DITA 1.1 | DITA 1.1 | Document opens without any errors. |
| DITA 1.2 | DITA 1.1 | FrameMaker sometimes show errors for the DITA1.2 constructs if present in the files, and then opens them. |
| DITA 1.1 | DITA 1.2 | FrameMaker opens the document without any errors. When the Ditamap is saved, FrameMaker adds the Navtitle element to the topicref elements and saves it as a DITA 1.2 document. The ditamap sometimes shows errors when opened again in DITA 1.1 mode. |
