The following error appears when you open Photoshop CS4 or CS3 on Mac OS 10.7 (Lion):
"You can't open the application Adobe Photoshop [CS4 or CS3] because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
This problem occurs when Photoshop CS4 or CS3 was set to run in PowerPC mode (Rosetta) at the time you updated to Mac OS 10.7. Rosetta is no longer supported in Mac OS 10.7, so when Photoshop is set to that mode, it is unable to open.
The script removes the preference file (com.apple.LaunchServices.plist) that sets Photoshop to run in Rosetta. After you restart your computer and reopen Photoshop, it runs in 64-bit mode.
If you use older plug-ins or other features that can only be accessed when Photoshop runs in 32-bit mode, select the Adobe Photoshop CS4 or CS3.app file under the Applications/Adobe Photoshop [CS4/CS3] folder, choose File > Get Info, and select Open in 32-bit Mode.
