Install | Camera Raw 6.4 plug-in

This TechNote describes how to install version 6.4 of the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in.

Installing Camera Raw 6.4 requires local administration rights. If you use Mac OS, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, then you sometimes are prompted to enter the name and password of an administrator user account. If you use Windows XP, then log in to your computer using a local administrator account before you begin.

The Camera Raw 6.4 plug-in is only compatible Photoshop CS5, Photoshop Elements 9, and Adobe Premiere Elements 9. Earlier versions of these products are not compatible with this version. If you have an earlier version, either upgrade your product or use the 6.4 DNG Converter (Windows/Mac OS). • The latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in available for Photoshop Elements 3.0 is Camera Raw 3.6.
• The latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in available for Photoshop Elements 4.0 (Windows) is Camera Raw 3.7.
• The latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in available for Photoshop Elements 5.0 (Windows) is Camera Raw 4.5.
• The latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in available for Photoshop Elements 6.0 (Windows, Mac) and Photoshop Elements 7.0 (Windows) is Camera Raw 5.6.
• The latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in available for Photoshop Elements 8.0 (Windows, Mac) is Camera Raw 6.2.
  
  

You can install an updated version of the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in from within any CS5 application:

To install an updated Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in by downloading an update off the Adobe website:

Note: To successfully install the Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop Elements 9 and Adobe Premiere Elements 9, follow all of the instructions below.

 To check whether you installed the update successfully, check the following:

• For Bridge CS5 -  Check the Camera Raw Preferences from the pop-up menus. The version is listed at the top of the preferences window.
• For Photoshop CS5 - Choose About Plug-In > Camera Raw. The version is listed in the right side of the window.
• For Photoshop Elements 9 - From the Editor, choose Help > About Plug-In > Camera Raw. The version is listed in the right side of the window.
• For Adobe Premiere Elements 9 - Browse to the installation directory of the plug-in, right-click the plug-in file and choose Properties. Then, click the Version tab of the file properties window. The latest version is  6.4.0.139.
