Installing Camera Raw plug-in requires local administration rights. If you use Mac OS, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, then you sometimes are prompted to enter the name and password of an administrator user account. If you use Windows XP, then log in to your computer using a local administrator account before you begin.
Check to determine the latest version of the camera raw plug-in supported on your version of your Adobe software. Check the following document for a listing of Camera Raw-compatible Adobe application versions.
Install Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop or Adobe Creative Suite: (Automated installation on Mac OS or Windows)
You can install an updated version of the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in from within any Adobe application by initiating the Adobe Update Manager. The latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in is included along with other product updates. To launch the Adobe Update Manager, use the following steps:

Note: Make sure that the version you download matches the latest version listed here.
Note: (Windows only) If you previously selected the option to have Adobe Bridge load on startup in could be running in background. Check the system tray area on the Windows taskbar (typically down on the lower-right corner of the screen). If you see the Adobe Bridge icon located here, right-click the icon. Then, choose the option to Exit to close Adobe Bridge completely during the installation process. Adobe Bridge reappears when the system restarts.
Note: The international version updates only apply to customers using an international version product.
Note: After you download the installer utility, either unzip it (Windows) or mount the disc image to the desktop (Mac OS) before starting the installation.
Note: If you have Windows Vista 64, install SP2 to unzip and run the update.
- For Adobe Bridge - Check the Camera Raw Preferences from the pop-up menus. The version is listed at the top of the preferences window.
- For Photoshop - Choose About Plug-In > Camera Raw. The version is listed in the right side of the window.
- For Photoshop Elements - From the Editor, choose Help > About Plug-In > Camera Raw. The version is listed in the right side of the window.
- All products - The version of the Camera Raw plug-in is listed at the top of the Camera Raw dialogue window when opening any camera raw file.
