After downloading the Adobe Premiere Elements 10 trial with the Adobe Download Assistant, when attempting to install on either Windows XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit, you receive the following error:
The 64-bit version of Adobe Premiere Elements 10 only installs on Windows 7 64 bit. If you have Windows XP 64 bit or Vista 64 bit, it's necessary to install the 32-bit version. Because the Adobe Download Assistant automatically downloads the 64-bit version in error, it's necessary to download the 32-bit version manually through alternate means.
Note: If installing from disc on Windows 7 64-bit, use the Premiere Elements 10 64-bit installation DVD, this is the second DVD disc. The 32-bit installer will NOT work on Window 7 64-bit.

Note: If you recieve an Access Denied message try starting from the actual download page prior to pasting in the URL, such as http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=premiere_elements&loc=en_us
Solution 2: Download the trial version of Adobe Premiere Elements 10 on a 32-bit version of Windows.
- Transfer the installation files using some form of removable media such as a zip or thumb drive to the Windows XP 64 bit or Vista 64-bit system. (Requires approximately 2 GB of free space)
Note: Copy the setup files off the zip or thumb drive to the hard drive of the 64-bit system. Do not attempt to install directly from the removable media.
Solution 3: Download the Adobe Premiere Elements 32-bit trial version from the following location on the Adobe FTP server.
Note: This method is the slowest download method provided; download can take 2-3 hours with a high-speed connection. The Adobe FTP only supports download using a single thread connection, attempting to use multiple threads results in a failed download.
- Paste the following URL into the location or address line: ftp://cust-ul2:Upt0wn@eftp.adobe.com/PRE10_trial_32bit/
To simplify logging in and managing FTP file transfers, consider using an FTP client such as the free FireFTP add-on to the Firefox browser (www.mozilla.com) or CuteFTP from (www.cuteftp.com).
