What is Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro?

Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro is the complete Web communications solution that enables live online meetings, virtual classes, and group collaboration, allowing organizations to effectively share a wide range of content, including Microsoft PowerPoint slides, live and recorded video, Adobe Flash content, live screen-sharing, application sharing, audio, and multiuser text chat. Using the rich media advantages of Adobe Flash technology, Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro delivers an engaging and user-friendly online communication experience.

When and how should I expect to receive my upgrade?

Current customers will receive an e-mail coupon for your Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro 7 and /or Adobe Presenter 7 license upgrade(s) from adobelicensing@adobe.com. Adobe will begin sending these messages the week of May 19th, 2008. Please disable any e-mail blockers you may have that might delay or delete the coupon e-mails. Use the coupon number in the e-mail to redeem a download from the Adobe Licensing Web Site (LWS). Instructions to download the media from LWS at http://licensing.adobe.com/ are in the e-mail.

What are the new features in Connect Pro version 7?

Do I need to download a new license file?

No, you do not need to download a new license file to upgrade an existing Adobe Acrobat Connect Professional 6 server to Connect Pro 7. Your Connect Professional 6 license file will continue to work with Connect Pro version 7. The upgrade process will detect and use your existing license file; no license key entry will be required when upgrading from a valid Connect 6 installation.

If I'm using Breeze 5, do I need to upgrade to Connect 6 first?

Yes, you must install Connect Pro 7 on a system that is running a minimum of Connect Professional 6.0, but any version of 6.x can be upgraded. The supported upgrade path from Macromedia Breeze 5 is to first upgrade to Connect Professional 6 (service packs not required), and then upgrade to Connect Pro 7. Follow the migration and installation guides for each version-to-version upgrade throughout the process.

Where can I go for upgrade documentation?

The documentation provided in the Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro 7 Migrating, Installing and Configuring guide (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AcrobatConnectPro/7.0/connectpro_7_install.pdf), located on the Product Resource Center at www.adobe.com/resources/acrobatconnect/ contains detailed information on how to upgrade from Connect Professional 6 to Connect Pro 7.

Where should I go for support?

Please visit the Adobe Connect support pages on the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/support/connect/ to obtain both e-mail and phone support information.

What if I don't remember my current serial number?

You may continue to use your existing Connect Professional 6 serial number with Connect Pro 7. You are not required to enter your serial number during the upgrade; the installer will automatically detect and use your existing valid license key.

Obtain your Connect Professional 6 serial number by logging into your server administrative console at http://localhost:8510/console on your Connect Professional 6 server. If you have not installed Acrobat Connect Pro 6, or need assistance obtaining your Acrobat Connect Pro 6 serial number, see the Adobe World Wide Customer Care page at www.adobe.com/support/contact/.

Who is eligible for the upgrade?

If you have Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro 6 with Adobe Presenter 6 or Breeze 5 with Platinum Maintenance that was active on May 5, 2008, then you will receive a combined media download for the new versions. Note that Acrobat Connect Pro 7 requires your Acrobat Connect Pro 6 serial number. Your Adobe Presenter 7 serial number will be posted to your LWS account 24 hours after you redeem your upgrade.

If you have Adobe Presenter 6 or Breeze Presenter 5 with Platinum Maintenance that was active on May 5, 2008, then you are entitled to Adobe Presenter 7. You will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to redeem your coupon for the software download. Your Adobe Presenter 7 license and serial number will be posted to your LWS account 24 hours after you redeem your coupon.

If you purchased Adobe Presenter 6 or Breeze Presenter 6 and are a Connect Pro Hosted customer who has an active Hosted account since May 5, 2008, then you are eligible for an upgrade to Adobe Presenter 7 at no charge. You will receive an e-mail from Adobes Licensing Web Site with a coupon you can redeem for a serial number. After you redeem that coupon you will receive instructions on how to retrieve the serial number. Your Adobe Presenter 7 serial number will be posted to your LWS account 24 hours after you redeem your upgrade.

Note: If you have only purchased Hosted Access Licenses in the past, and not Presenter licenses, then you are not eligible for an upgrade to Presenter 7.

Who do I contact if I don't receive my upgrade?

Adobe Customer Service can research your upgrade fulfillment order and re-issue a media coupon if necessary. The contact information for Adobe Customer Service worldwide is available at www.adobe.com/support/contact/.

Will my custom applications that were created in Connect Professional 6 using XML APIs continue to work in Connect Pro 7?

The XML APIs that existed within Connect Professional 6 have been nominally modified in Connect Pro 7. In the majority of cases, integrated applications will function after the upgrade. Always test and verify that the XML API calls in your custom applications are compatible with the new version of your Connect Server. Can all my users download and install Presenter?

In Connect Pro 7, any user who is able to log in to the server can download and install Presenter 7 in a fully functional trial mode for a limited time period. However, to continue to use Presenter, the user must run in licensed mode, which requires a serial number.

To download and install Presenter 7, go to the Resources > Getting Started page on your Connect Pro server.

Why do I need to activate my Presenter upgrade?

Whether installing Presenter for the first time, or upgrading from a previous version to Presenter 7, you will need a serial number after the trial installation period of Presenter 7 has ended. This differs from previous versions that did not require a license key for activation. You may have purchased an individual license key, or a volume license to be used across your organization. This serial number may be distributed according to your license agreement with Adobe.

Can all my users download and install Presenter?
