Issue

On Mac OS X, when a user with administrator-access privileges updates Eclipse plug-ins or any third-party plug-ins in Flash Builder, the plug-ins are placed in a user-specific folder within the workspace. Because the plug-ins are placed in a user-specific folder, only a user with administrator-access privileges can use these plug-ins. If the account that you are using lacks administrator-access privileges, you can't use these plug-ins.

Solution 

If you are logged into Mac OS X as a user with administrator-access privileges and want to update Eclipse or third-party plug-ins in Flash Builder, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the config.ini file within your Flash Builder or Eclipse installation. The config.ini file is located at: Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 Installation/eclipse/configuration/config.ini 
  2. Comment-out the following lines in the config.ini file:
  3. Update the Eclipse or third-party plug-ins.
  4. After the updates are successfully installed, uncomment the lines that you commented out in step 2.
