What is Adobe Acrobat Pro XI software Subscription?

A subscription is a new, more flexible way to get Acrobat XI Pro software. A subscription gives you ongoing access to the full functionality of Acrobat Pro XI for a low monthly price. You also get access to every upgrade version at no additional charge, as long as your subscription remains active.

The software installs locally on your computer. It's unnecessary to be online to use your Acrobat Pro XI subscription. Access to the Internet is required during installation and licensing of your software and once every 30 days thereafter. The software alerts you when a connection to the Internet is required for a license status check. You have access to the software as long as your subscription is current.

To the top

Are there any differences in functionality between the Acrobat Pro software purchased as a subscription versus the traditional purchasing model?

No, there are no differences in the functionality or in the system requirements between the two. However, if you suspend or cancel your subscription, you cannot use the software.

To the top

What subscription plans are available?

Adobe offers both annual and month-to-month plans. Annual plans have lower monthly payments and require that you remain a subscriber for at least a year. Annual plans automatically renew for the next 12-month period after the initial term has been met. Month-to-month plans provide the flexibility of a short-term commitment. They allow you to end your subscription at any time if your business needs change. If you decide to restart, purchase a new subscription without having to reinstall your apps.

To the top

How much does it cost to subscribe to an individual Acrobat XI Pro application?

Subscription fees vary by product and your country of residence. Visit Adobe.com or the Adobe.com store in your respective country for pricing information.

To the top

How am I billed for the month-to-month or annual plan?

Your card is billed each month under either plan. See terms and conditions for more details.

To the top

Do I install the Creative Cloud single app software on my computer? Or is it a cloud-based application that I access via the Internet?

Acrobat Pro XI Creative Cloud single app edition is installed locally on your computer, just like regular Acrobat Pro products. The functionality of a Creative Cloud single app edition is same as the regular product. It's not necessary to be online to use your Acrobat Pro XI Creative Cloud single app. Access to the Internet is needed during installation and licensing of your software and once every 30 days thereafter. The software alerts you when a connection to the Internet is required for a license status check.

To the top

If I install Acrobat XI Pro subscription, does it affect any previously installed versions of Acrobat on my computer?

Yes. Acrobat XI Pro subscription unistalls any previously installed versions of Acrobat on your computer.

To the top

Where can I purchase Acrobat XI Pro subscription?

Acrobat XI Pro subscription is available only through Adobe.com. You can choose from either an annual or month-to-month plan.

To the top

When I purchase my subscription, do I receive a box that contains the software?

No. When you purchase a subscription on Adobe.com, you immediately receive an email that contains a link to the electronic download of the software.

To the top

I noticed that you are sending me to the Creative Cloud Apps & Services page to download my individual subscription application. Why is that?

Adobe Creative Cloud is a great place to explore, create, publish and share work across devices, the desktop, and the web. By visiting www.creativecloud.com to download your subscription, you get access to your software. And, you are able to do a number of things on the Creative Cloud website, including but not limited to:
  • Download trials of all other applications and services that are part of the Adobe products.
  • Manage the details of your subscription, including canceling, changing credit card information, and more.
  • Easily move from subscribing to a single product to becoming a member of Creative Cloud.
  • Access free versions of Creative Cloud services.
To the top

I checked my credit card statement, and my subscription fee sometimes varies from one month to the next. Why is that?

If you live in a region where you purchase a Creative Cloud single app from the Adobe Store with a price quoted in U.S. dollars or euros — but you receive credit card statements with charges stated in your local currency — you could see different amounts charged from month to month. Changes in the currency exchange rates from one billing date to the next affect the charges. Month-to-month Creative Cloud single apps are billed the current list price. Adobe notifies you of any price change, and you have the option to cancel before your next monthly billing.

To the top

Will the cost of my subscription increase?

The cost of an annual subscription will not increase in the year you are subscribed. The cost of a month-month subscription can change. In this situation, you are notified in advance and are given the option to cancel the subscription.

To the top

Are volume licenses available by Creative Cloud single app?

Currently, subscription editions are available only for individuals.

To the top

Is the pricing different for government or educational customers?

No. The pricing is same for all customers.

To the top

How many computers can I install my subscription on?

You can install your subscription software on up to two computers. See the license agreement for the product you want to subscribe to for more information.

To the top

What is product activation?

Activation is the process by which Adobe validates that your software is genuine and is being used in accordance with your product license agreement. It is intended to protect both your rights as a consumer and Adobe's rights as a software developer.

It also helps confirm that the software you bought is not counterfeit. You can't use your subscription software if it is not activated.

To the top

Is activation required to use a subscription product?

Yes. Activation takes place once every 30 days for a subscription license check. If you are not online for 30 days, your software notifies you to connect to the Internet.

If the software cannot be activated, you are warned when you launch the application. Blocking access to the activation server prevents the product from launching.

To the top

I am a small business owner and want to distribute the subscription products to my employees. Is there any way to do that?

If you own a business and need multiple subscriptions to get your team up and running, you can purchase, download, and install each subscription product with a unique Adobe ID. Each user needs a unique Adobe ID and password, which are used to buy the subscription.

If it has been less than six months since your subscription ended, navigate to the Account page on www.creativecloud.com. Then, make any required updates to your billing information to restart it. If it has been more than six months, it's necessary to buy a new subscription.
