Change the default App to open PDFs on macOS

Learn how to change your default application for opening and viewing PDF files on macOS.

Acrobat was automatically set as your default PDF viewer to help you get started quickly. If you prefer to use a different app to open PDF files, you can easily change your default PDF viewer by following the steps below: 

  1. Right-click any PDF file. 

  2. Select Get info

  3. In the window that opens, select the drop-down menu under Open with option. 

  4. Select your preferred PDF application from the drop-down menu and then select Change all.

  5. In the confirmation dialog box, select Continue
