Adobe Connect 9.5 Add-in Release Notes


This article applies to Adobe Connect versions that supports Adobe Connect add-in. Starting Nov 2017, Adobe introduced the new Adobe Connect application for desktop that replaces the old Adobe Connect add-in for Adobe Connect version 9.x and later. If you are on Adobe Connect version 8 or earlier, you can continue to use Adobe Connect add-in.

The required version of the Adobe Connect 9.5 Add-in is 11.9.974.205 for both Windows and Mac platforms, but we recommend using the latest version available here.

Adobe Connect Add-in is needed for functionality specific to meeting hosts and presenters. The minimum required version of the Add-in for Adobe Connect 9.5 update is 11.9.974.205 for both Windows and Mac OS.  This is a forced update for Adobe Connect 9.5. You will be asked to install the new Add-in under the following circumstances:

  • You try to start or join 9.5 meeting for first time and have older version of the Add-in installed.
  • You start screen sharing, application sharing, or share PowerPoint (PPTX format) files, and don’t have the latest version of the Add-in installed.

The new Add-in provides new features and better performance besides fixing several known issues since the last forced version:

New Features:

The new Add-in powers the two major features for Adobe Connect 9.5 and as such is critical to utilize the new features. These features are as follows:

Offline Recordings in MP4 format:

Users can now create offline recordings in MP4 format. Users can also choose from among the available quality presets or set their own manual settings for the same before starting offline conversion.

Support for HTML content type:

Virtual classroom users will now be able to share an additional content type – Captivate and Presenter content published as HTML. This content will support sync, quizzes, and recording as well as all supported reporting capabilities just like any other supported content.

While the user experience with the content itself is not changing, there are few requirements with this functionality:

  • HTML content is supported only in Virtual Classrooms
  • Only content published as HTML from Adobe Captivate 9 and Adobe Presenter 11 is supported in Adobe Connect 9.5
    • Content published as HTML from earlier versions are not supported
    • Support for other HTML content (other than Captivate and Presenter) may come in future releases
  • Both presenter and participants will need to have Adobe Connect Add-in to share and view the HTML content
    • This requirement is specific to only HTML content type. For any other content type, the Add-in is NOT required for Participants
    • This is only a one time exercise for any user
    • By extension, this is only applicable for Virtual Classroom users

Instructions for Manual Installation


Click here to download Windows Add-in.

  1. Save the file when prompted; by default, it's saved in the Downloads folder.
  2. Open the Downloads folder and open to extract the package (the package name is setup.exe).
  3. Open setup.exe to launch the installer.
  4. Follow the installer prompts to install the Add-In.

Mac OS

Click here to download the Mac Add-in.

  1. Save the file when prompted; by default, it's saved in the Downloads folder.
  2. Open the Downloads folder and open ac_addin_mac_974_205.z to extract the package (the package name is adobeconnectaddin-installer.pkg).
  3. Open adobeconnectaddin-installer.pkg to launch the installer.
  4. Follow the installer prompts to install the Add-In.
