Adobe and South Africa VAT laws

Adobe is applying the South African Value Added Tax (VAT) on electronic services (e-services) starting in January 2020. This South African tax applies to transactions by companies that supply e-services, including Adobe.

Why was I charged a VAT?

South Africa has imposed a tax on e-services, which includes software subscriptions.

How much VAT do I have to pay?

The VAT rate in South Africa is 15% but is subject to change.

I have an existing plan. When do I get charged this tax?

For monthly and annual paid monthly plans, you are billed the VAT starting in January 2020. If you have an existing prepaid annual plan, the VAT goes into effect when your plan renews.

Note:

This change does not affect the base price of your Adobe plan.
