Learn how to fix After Effects crashes caused by faulty MSVCR120.dll, MSVCR110.dll, or MSVCR100.dll modules.
After Effects crashes caused by faulty MSVCR120.dll, MSVCR110.dll, or MSVCR100.dll modules can have several possible causes, including:
- Corrupt or missing MSVCR120.dll, MSVCR110.dll, or MSVCR100.dll files (Windows)
- Corrupted or outdated Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages
- Pending or incomplete Windows operating system updates
- Operating system upgrades (for example, Windows 7 to Windows 11) that may corrupt or replace required DLL files
Workaround
- MSVCR100.dll, MSVCR110.dll, or MSVCR100.dll is a part of Microsoft Visual C++ and is often required for running programs developed with Visual C++. Some games or applications require the file to be located in the game/application installation folder. Copying it from the C:\Windows\System32 folder to the install folder of the After Effects (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects).
- Uninstall all Adobe product(s) from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features. Also, Uninstall all Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables (2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2013), making sure none are left.
- Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
