SIGMA 50mm f/1.4 ART lens images misidentified as Zeiss Milvus
In Adobe Camera Raw 9.3 and Lightroom 2015.3/6.3, an issue led imported images made with the SIGMA 50mm f/1.4 ART lens to be mistakenly identified as shot by the Zeiss Milvus 50mm f/1.4 lens on Canon EOS camera bodies. This issue affected theLens Corrections panel and the Lens Name EXIF metadata.
The issue was fixed in Adobe Camera Raw 9.4 and Lightroom 2015.4/6.4 releases. After this fix, newly imported images no longer experience this lens name discrepancy.
However, for imported images affected by the original issue, the EXIF Lens Namemetadata continued to be incorrect, especially when the images contained saved adjustments. This related issue has been addressed in Adobe Camera Raw 9.5 and Lightroom 2015.5/6.5. In Adobe Camera Raw 9.5, the bug fix automatically corrects the EXIF Lens Name metadata.
Still, due to differences in implementation, the workaround documented below is required to completely resolve the issue in Lightroom 2015.5/6.5.
Solution: Correct the affected metadata
In Lightroom 2015.5/6.5, follow these steps:
1. In the Library module, select all images affected by the bug. That is, select images created with the SIMGA lens that are identified as images shot using the Zeiss lens.
2. Choose Metadata> Save Metadata To File.
3. Choose Metadata> Read Metadata From File.
This workaround triggers a synchronization of image metadata that replaces Zeiss Milvus 50mm f/1.4 with 50mm f/1.4 in the EXIF Lens Name field.
Note:
Newly imported images are not affected by the issues discussed in this document.
