Contextual Help

New in Lightroom desktop

Easily find contextual tutorials within Lightroom to help you improve your work. For example, if you have opened a photo in Loupe view and you click the Help icon, you can view a tutorial that offers step-by-step guidance to apply a desired effect to your photo. Click the Help icon in the upper-right corner to view other contextual tutorials in the first section of the Help menu, based on what you do in the application. You can also view tutorials for tools and features in the second section of the Help menu.

Interactive tutorials

New in Lightroom desktop and mobile (iOS and Android)

In Lightroom, across devices, you can explore interactive tutorials that are submitted by members of the photography community. Whether you are a beginner or a pro, interactive tutorials provide a free way to learn a wide variety of editing techniques while working within the app. Access tutorials from a range of professional photographers and photo educators, and apply the edits, step-by-step, right within Lightroom.

To access these tutorials in Lightroom desktop, click the Help icon and scroll to the last section in the pop-up menu. In Lightroom for mobile, click the Home icon to access the range of interactive tutorials. To know more about this feature, see the following:

Discover inspirational photos

New in Lightroom for mobile (iOS and Android)

Lightroom for mobile offers inspirational photos by fellow photography members where you can browse through different categories of photos and tap any to open and see how the photo was edited, step-by-step.  You can also download the edits as a preset.

To discover the inspirational posts, click the Home icon and scroll to the Discover section. You can also filter the posts based on categories such as food, fashion, and more. To know more, see Inspirational photos on iOS and Inspirational photos on Android.

Group Albums

New in Lightroom desktop and mobile

Premium feature in Lightroom for mobile (iOS and Android).

In Lightroom, across devices you can share an existing album or multiple photos which aren't part of any album through an invite. You can also allow access to your invitees to contribute to the shared album. This way, you can access all your photos in a single place.

On desktop, Ctrl-click (macOS)/right-click (Win) a desired album in the Albums panel and select Share & Invite. The Link Access field is set to Invite only, by default. In the Invite section, enter the email addresses to privately share the album and click Invite. Change the Link Access setting to Anyone can view to share the album publicly. On mobile, click the  icon against the name of your desired album and select Share & Invite. In the dialog box that appears, you can share the album via email and manage the access settings of the invitees.

Texture slider

New in Lightroom desktop and mobile

Enhance or reduce the appearance of texture in your photo. In Lightroom across devices, you can now smoothen or accentuate details such as skin, bark, and hair with the new Texture slider. Move the Texture slider to the left to smooth skin and retain fine pore details to ensure natural-looking skin. Move it to the right to accentuate details such as bark or hair without affecting less detailed areas, like the out of focus areas in a photograph. The color or tonality of your photograph does not change when you adjust the Texture slider.

You can also apply this effect locally with the local adjustment Brush tool, Linear Gradient or Radial Gradient tools.

Use the slider to view the before and after photos of accentuated texture details.

Defringe

New in Lightroom desktop

The Defringe controls help identify and remove color fringing along high-contrast edges. You can remove purple or green fringes caused by lens chromatic aberrations with the Defringe tool on Lightroom desktop. This tool reduces some of the colorful artifacts that the Remove Chromatic Aberration tool cannot remove. Click the Defringe icon under the Optics panel and use the Fringe Selector to sample a green or purple hue in the photograph to remove the fringe.

You can also locally remove purple or green hues with the Defringe slider in the local adjustment Brush panel, Linear Gradient, or Radial Gradient panels.

Batch editing

New in Lightroom for mobile (Android)

Premium feature in Lightroom for mobile (Android).

Quickly apply edit settings from one photograph to multiple other photographs in Lightroom for mobile (Android). You can select any edited photo in Loupe view and copy its edits in the Copy Settings panel. These edits can then be pasted to multiple photos in the Grid view. The () icon at the upper-right corner of the grid screen displays the Paste Settings option to paste the copied edits to the selected photos.
