Clean up noise and reverb in audio clips.
What you'll need
What you learned: The Reduce Noise and Reduce Reverb options in the Essential Sound panel quickly improve challenging dialogue audio
Assign the Dialogue audio type
- In the Essential Sound panel, repair options are available for Dialogue audio. To assign the Dialogue audio type, select clips in the current sequence and click the Dialogue option in the Essential Sound panel.
Enable Reduce Noise and Reduce Reverb
- To enable Reduce Noise or Reduce Reverb, check the box for each repair option in the Repair section of the Essential Sound panel.
Try the default settings first
- The default repair settings will often improve noisy audio, or audio with reverb. Play the clips back to review the result, then experiment with the intensity sliders to balance the natural sound with cleaned audio.
Adjust audio level
- Removing background noise or reverb will usually reduce the overall audio level of clips. Use the Clip Volume control in the Essential Sound panel to adjust the clip level.
