Install Creative Suite products from the desktop | CS5, CS5.5, CS6

To perform a desktop install, it's necessary to create a desktop installation point. The installation point is created from the original installer and serves as a source image for a desktop or silent installation.

Create a desktop installation point from an install DVD

  1. Create a folder on your desktop: Right-click and choose New Folder (Windows) or Control-click and choose New > Folder (Mac OS). Name the folder "Adobe CS5", "Adobe CS5.5", or "Adobe CS6."

  2. Insert the first Adobe Creative Suite product install disc into the computer’s DVD drive. If an install or setup window opens, close it.

  3. In the Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac OS), select the Adobe CS5, CS5.5, or CS6 folder on the install disc. Copy it into the folder you created on your desktop:

    • Select the Adobe CS5, CS5.5, or CS6 folder on the install disc and press Ctrl+C (Windows) or Command+C (Mac OS).
    • Navigate to the corresponding Adobe CS5, Adobe CS5.5, or Adobe CS6 folder you created on your desktop.
    • Press Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command+V (Mac OS).
Important: If prompted, select the option to overwrite all files.
  4. Insert the second Adobe Creative Suite product install disc into the computer's DVD drive.

  5. In the Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac OS), navigate to the Payloads folder in the Adobe CS5, or CS5.5, or CS6 folder on the install disc. Copy the Payloads folder into the corresponding Adobe CS5, Adobe CS5.5, or Adobe CS6 folder on your desktop.

Install Adobe Creative Suite 5, CS5.5, or CS6 from a desktop installation point

  1. Open the Adobe CS5, Adobe CS5.5, or Adobe CS6 folder on the desktop and double-click the product Setup file.

  2. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Important: If you are prompted to insert media during the installation, then some items were not copied properly when you created the installation point. Make sure that you have only one Payloads folder, and that all payload files are in the Payloads folder.
