Adobe Premiere Pro or Media Encoder crashes on export

Issue

Premiere Pro or Media Encoder crashes while exporting a file.

When does this happen?

This crash occurs when you select H.264 or MPEG4 as the export formats, or if they were already chosen as the default format. This only occurs on Windows systems that are using older Intel GPUs with QuickSync.

Solution

You can fix this issue by updating your graphic drivers, or disabling the Intel GPU.

Update your graphic drivers

Outdated drivers can cause a variety of stability issues. Please contact your system manufacturer to ensure you have the latest driver. You can also find more information here: GPU and GPU Driver Requirements for Premiere Pro.

Disable the Intel GPU

  1. Right-click the Windows Start icon and select Device Manager.

    Select Device Manager

  2. Click Yes when prompted for permission from User Account Control.

  3. Expand the Display adapters section.

    Expand Display Adapters

  4. Right-click the Intel entry.

  5. Select Disable device.

    Select Disable device

Note:

This is only applicable if you have more than one display adaptor listed in Device Manager.
