Use the Acrobat Chrome extension to open a SharePoint document directly in Acrobat. The extension identifies the source location and initiates the file check-out process in Acrobat.

Adobe is testing this new experience in the Acrobat Chrome extension. Therefore, the experience may not be available to all users.

SharePoint Server 2019, Microsoft Office 365, and other online servers are not supported.

Steps to open a SharePoint PDF from Chrome in Acrobat

Open a PDF file hosted on your SharePoint site in Chrome.
After the document opens in the browser, select Open in Acrobat.
Acrobat displays a dialog box with the filename and location. Do one of the following:
- To check out the file and open it, select Check Out & Open.
- To open the file without checking out, select Open.

Registry keys to enable the SharePoint integration in Chrome extension, and allow-list the SharePoint URLs

The feature is disabled by default. To enable it, use the feature lockdown key and allow-list the SharePoint URLs, as suggested below.
