Use Adobe Student File Transfer to automatically transfer your creative assets from your assigned school account to a personal account.
Adobe Student File Transfer replaces the old Student Asset Migration service, introduced in 2020. Users who need to access the older tool can do so at https://graduation.adobe.com/sam for a limited time.
Before you begin
School account
Keep your school account credentials handy. You'll be asked to sign in.
Managing Account Storage: Personal Adobe accounts typically provide 5GB of file storage. If you have more than 5GB of files in your school account, remove any non-essential files before starting the transfer or upgrade your personal account to an Adobe plan with higher storage capacity.
If you begin the process without following these steps, you may run out of space during the transfer. As a result, some files might not be copied, and you'll receive an email notification about the incomplete transfer. You can then free up some storage or upgrade your account. Then, restart the transfer process. Any files remaining in your account that have not already been transferred will be copied.
Personal account
You require a functional email ID to sign up for a new personal account. You'll be prompted to sign up for one if you don't already have a personal Adobe account.
Still have questions? See Student File Transfer Frequently Asked Questions.
Student File Transfer performs a copy operation when transferring files from your school account to your personal account. If you need to re-run the transfer process again for any reason, you can do that for as long as you have access to your school account.
Transfer files
Student File Transfer from Adobe is an easy-to-use tool that allows you to transfer your assets in just a few short steps.
-
Бележка:
Adobe Student File Transfer does not currently support Behance or Portfolio assets as part of its normal file copy process. Learn more about how to use the Portfolio transfer service and move a Behance profile between accounts. These are separate, one-time file transfers, not file copy services.
-
Sign in to your school account. If you are already signed in, confirm the school account details are correct or select Sign in to another account to switch to a different source account. If you are not signed in yet, you'll be asked to do so before moving on.
-
Sign in to your personal Adobe account. If you don’t have a personal Adobe account, select No, sign up to create one.
-
Confirm the email addresses for both your school and Adobe personal accounts.
The email address for your personal account will be used to send a results email when the transfer process is complete. If you prefer to receive the email confirmation at a different email address, select Notify a different email. When the information on this screen is correct, select Start transfer.
-
Once the transfer begins, you will see a confirmation screen. You can close the browser now – you will be notified when the process is complete.
-
When the transfer is complete, you'll receive a confirmation email with a summary of the results.
Frequently asked questions
Adobe Student File Transfer (SFT) is a year-round Adobe file copy service that anyone with an active, federated (enterprise-based) school account can use to copy files to their personal Adobe account.
Adobe Student File Transfer replaces the Student Asset Migration tool, which was previously aimed at graduating students leaving the institution who wanted to take their Adobe creations with them.
Users can access Adobe Student File Transfer here: https://graduation.adobe.com/
Student File Transfer from Adobe works by copying all the files it finds in your school account to your personal Adobe account. You'll be asked to log in to both accounts before starting the transfer, and when complete, you'll receive an email providing a summary of the transfer operation.
Yes, Student File Transfer from Adobe is available to all students, faculty, and staff of an educational institution as long as they have an active, federated-identity school account used to access Adobe products on their school domain.
Generally, if your school provided you with an account to use Adobe software, it should be supported by Student File Transfer. Typically, federated accounts will have user names like studentname@schoolname.edu. In contrast, free or paid student/teacher plans you acquired on your own (not issued by your school) are not federated accounts and will not be supported by the service.
Users can use their existing Adobe personal account. If they don't already have an Adobe personal account, the Student File Transfer service will help the user create one as part of the process.
Ideally, you should remove any non-essential files from your school and personal accounts ahead of time to ensure you have enough space for the transfer. However, if you run out of space during the transfer and are not able to copy all your files, you can either remove non-essential files from your personal account or add storage space through another Adobe account plan. Once space becomes available, you can restart the transfer and any remaining files will be copied over.
No, the service can be used any number of times to transfer files from your school account to your personal account.
Yes. The service copies files, rather than moves them, so the original files will still be in your school account even after completing the transfer.
Student File Transfer keeps track of the files you previously copied from your school account to your personal account. If any files are added or updated, they will be copied over when you re-run the transfer process.
No, Student File Transfer only supports transferring files from a federated school account to a personal account.
Transferring files from one geographical region to another isn't supported. Your school and personal account must be located in the same geographical region. For example, if your school account is in the United States, you cannot transfer files to a personal account in Japan. International students returning to their home countries may have to transfer files manually.
A free Adobe account comes with various free entitlements, including Adobe Express, Firefly, Acrobat Web, and more, in addition to 5GB of free storage. Students can go to www.adobe.com, select Sign in, and then select Create an account to get a free account. Once they have signed in, they can see a complete list of all the free services. A free account does not include access to Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and others. In addition, free accounts don't include access to premium services and content. If a user needs access to these products and services to do more work on files they created while in school, they must obtain a paid personal plan that includes them.
This is a partial list of the Adobe products that Student File Transfer supports as of May 1, 2024 (check back for product updates frequently).
Supported products (as of May 2024) |
Unsupported products (as of May 2024) |

If your school project files include any premium content, that content typically will not be supported once the files are transferred to a free personal account. The premium content may still be viewable from your personal account, but you will not be able to save or export the project until all premium content is removed or you switch to an Adobe account plan that includes premium entitlements.
Adobe Student File Transfer does not currently support Behance or Portfolio assets as part of its normal file copy process. However, if a student used either of these products during their time at school and has an existing profile on their school account, they can migrate those assets to a personal account as well using separate processes. Learn more about how to use the Portfolio transfer service and move a Behance profile between accounts.
The Behance and Portfolio tools are both one-time account migrations, unlike Student File Transfer, which is an anytime file copy service. Students who use these tools should consider those differences when determining their file and account transfer plans.
Adobe XD prototypes and design links on published pages do not work after you transfer to a personal account. The files are moved to the files directory. However, the links on the published page will not resolve. Remove shares from the published files, and unpublish prototypes and designs before the transfer.
Adobe Stock photos already downloaded from Adobe Stock and saved to the Creative Cloud Files directory transfer just like other assets. You cannot download more photos from Adobe Stock in the new account.
Any materials created with Adobe Fonts will revert to non-paid fonts when transferred to a personal Adobe account unless these fonts have also been purchased and added to the personal account.
As a rule, any content added to project files by anyone other than yourself will not be transferred when copying files to your personal account. This includes features like sharing links and comments added by other users as part of group projects, as well as files that were shared with you that you do not own. Files that you created and shared with others are copied over, but sharing links are not preserved.
