Storing files in the PDF or AI format allows for enhanced sharing and viewing and is more economical than managing multiple file formats.
The PDF Rasterizer library lets you leverage the Adobe-supported implementation of the latest PDF specification to generate high-fidelity thumbnails so your content is better prepared for effective classification, sharing, and long-term preservation.
When you upload content in PDF or AI format to Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets, PDF Rasterizer generate thumbnails and web renditions of high quality for a consistent viewing experience across devices.
Also the renditions are more reliable and accurate compared to the output you could earlier generate using the Gibson PDF library.
The PDF Rasterizer library is based on the core technology of the Adobe Acrobat line of products and offers complete functionality for generating, manipulating, rendering, and printing PDF or AI documents. The library enables PDF functionality to be seamlessly embedded within applications, including AEM Assets.
To use PDF Rasterizer library in AEM Assets, download the binaries for Windows or Linux, and perform the following steps:

Configure the following to skip the default thumbnail and web rendition process for PDF files:
- Open the Process Thumbnails step and add application/pdf or application/postscript in the Skip Mime Types field under the Thumbnails tab depending upon your requirements.
- In the Web Enabled Image tab, add application/pdf or application/postscript under Skip List depending upon your requirements.
