See how you can use After Effects to apply a track matte to a video captured on the go with Premiere Clip to create a hoverboard effect like the one seen in Back to the Future II.

If you want to re-create the effect shown in this video, copy the Hover Assets to your Creative Cloud Assets. Click Save to Creative Cloud to copy the assets to your own account.

  1. Shoot your sequence twice, with and without your moving subject.
  2. Import those background and foreground clips into After Effects.
  3. Go to Layer > New > Solid and use this to create a mask for the wheels or part of the footage you want to remove.
  4. Go to Window > Tracker and connect the anchor point of the solid to the wheels. In the Tracker panel click Track Motion.
