If an invalid minimum heap size, such as 0 MB, is entered in the Macromedia ColdFusion MX Administrator's Java/JVM Settings page and the change is submitted, you will receive a message stating the server must be restarted in order for the change to take effect. The attempt to restart the server will fail and the following message will be recorded in the Windows Event Viewer system log:
The ColdFusion MX Application Server service terminated with service- specific error 2 (0x2).
Invalid initial heap size: -Xms0m Could not create the Java virtual machine.
If a minimum JVM heap size is not specified in the Administrator, ColdFusion is able to start correctly as the default is to use the JVM's default minimum heap size. If a value is specified in the Administrator, Macromedia recommends at least 32 MB.
