Earlier versions of Adobe applications, such as Creative Suite, Creative Suite 2, and Photoshop Elements 4, crash when running under Rosetta in Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). 

Solution

Install the most recent update of Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Additional information

A recent update of Mac OS 10.6.8 caused a compatibility issue with regard to running applications in Rosetta. Apple has released a newer update, Security Update 2012-001, that fixes this issue.
