Issue

When you start an Adobe Creative Suite 4 product from the System folder, you receive the error message "The application [Adobe product] has unexpectedly quit."

Reason

TheAdobe Creative Suite 4 productinstaller will allow you to install the applications to the System folder but the applications will fail to launch. The Mac OS X operating system is designed to have applications installed to the Applications folder. Installing applications to the System folder can generate unexpected results.

Solution

Uninstall and reinstall the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product.

  1. Uninstall the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product from the System folder using the uninstaller found in /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
  2. Install the Adobe Creative Suite product into the Applications folder.
