The following record provides instructions for silently installing and uninstalling of Adobe Creative Suite Production Premium on both Windows and Macintosh systems. This record should be used to deploy volume licensed builds only.

Perform a silent installation of Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium - Windows

This section describes how to perform a silent install from the Command Prompt in Windows XP or Vista. The Adobe commands are identical in both operating systems.
  1. Copy the folder "Adobe CS3" from disk 1 to a location on your hard drive.
  2. Copy the contents of the payloads folders from disk 2, 3, and 4 and paste them into the payloads inside the folder Adobe CS3 that was copied to the hard drive in step 1. Replace the existing files when prompted to do so.
  3. Open the Command Prompt (Start > Programs > Accessories >Command Prompt).
  4. At the command prompt, navigate to the directory Adobe CS3 (created in step 1).
  5. Type setup --record=1 .
  6. Press the Enter key to start the installer in full GUI mode. Enter the serial number, select the language for the applications, and select the application packages to install when prompted to allow you to create custom install and remove XML.
  7. Once the install GUI finishes, click the [record] Install button to complete the record process. Make note of the path to the files Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium.install.xml and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium.remove.xml (Typically located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers).
  8. Via Windows Explorer, navigate to the files Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium.install.xml and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium.remove.xml and rename the files to install.xml and remove.xml.
  9. Copy the files install.xml and remove.xml.
  10. Navigate to the folder "Adobe CS3" (created in step 1) and paste the file install.xml and remove.xml to the root of the Adobe CS3 folder.
  11. If necessary, create and place the application.xml.override file in the AdobeProductionPremiumSuiteAll_Volume payloads folder. Please refer to the document cs3_deplyment.pdf under Additional resources for information on creating an application.xml.override file.



    Note: The application.xml.override line <Data key="Serial" protected="0"16011049374654XXXXXXX</Data> is not needed when using this silent deployment method.

     
  12. At the command prompt, type: setup --mode=silent --deploymentFile=install.xml.
  13. Press enter to begin the silent install process.



    Note: To perform a silent uninstall, use the command: setup --mode=silent --deploymentFile=remove.xml.

Perform a silent installation of Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium - Macintosh OS X

This section describes how to perform a silent install from the Command Prompt on OS X.

  1. Copy the folder "Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium" from disk 1 to a location on your hard drive.
  2. Copy the contents of the payloads folders from disk 2, 3, 4, and 5 and paste them into the payloads inside the folder Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium that was copied to the hard drive in step 1. Replace the existing files when prompted to do so.
  3. Open the Terminal (System drive >Applications > Utilities > Terminal).
  4. Using Terminal, navigate to Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium/Setup.app/Contents/MacOS.
  5. Type ./setup --record=1.
  6. Press the Enter key to start the installer in full GUI mode. Enter the serial number, select the language for the applications, and select the application packages to install when prompted to allow you to create custom install and remove XML.
  7. Once the install GUI finishes, click the [record] Install button to complete the record process. Make note of the path to the files Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium.install.xml and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium.remove.xml (located at System drive/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers).
  8. Navigate to the files Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium.install.xml and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium.remove.xml and rename the files to install.xml and remove.xml.
  9. Copy the files install.xml and remove.xml.
  10. Navigate to the folder "Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium" (created in step 1) and open the folder.
  11. Right+click or control+click on setup and select "Show Package Contents".
  12. Open the Contents folder, then open the Mac OS folder.
  13. Paste the files install.xml and remove.xml to this location.
  14. If necessary, create and place the application.xml.override file in the AdobeProductionPremiumSuiteAll_Volume payloads folder. Please refer to the document cs3_deplyment.pdf under Additional resources for information on creating an application.xml.override file.



    Note: The application.xml.override line <Data key="Serial" protected="0"16011049374654XXXXXXX</Data> is not needed when using this silent deployment method.

     
  15. In Terminal type: sudo ./Setup --mode=silent --deploymentFile=install.xml.
  16. Enter the ROOT password when prompted and press return to begin the silent install process.



    Note: To perform a silent uninstall, use the command: sudo ./Setup --mode=silent --deploymentFile=remove.xml.
