When submitting your binary to your iTunes Connect account, you get the following error message:
'Newsstand app's info.plist must contain UINewsstandApp=True'
This error occurs because of a change in Apple's iTunes Connect where it is no longer possible to specify the category Newsstand for your application.
If you select Magazines for the app category (or subcategory), iTunes Connect requires the Newsstand flag to be set to true in the info.plist; otherwise the app is rejected.
Previously, auto-renewing subscriptions had to be in Newsstand.
You can now use any category for auto-renewing subscriptions, so by changing the category to News (and removing any reference to magazines in the subcategories) the submission ignores the newsstand flag in the info.plist and the app successfully submits.
- Apps that have Magazines in the category or subcategory setting in iTunes must have the newsstand flag set to true in the info.plist.
- Apps that do not have Magazines in the category or subcategory ignore the newsstand flag in the info.plist.
- It is now possible to have auto-renewing subscriptions in any category (as long as they are not free). Free subscriptions still must use the Magazines category.
