Starting from September 14, 2021, the following features and capabilities will be changed or removed from the Adobe Acrobat online services due to low usage. We will continue to add features that add value and enhance functionality.
- When you share a link to a document, the original file will be shared with the recipients instead of a copy. To make any changes to the original shared file, you must save a copy. This change is part of our ongoing development to support improvements in collaboration, security, configurability, and storage in the coming year.
- The ability to track participants' status in the shared link will be removed. You will no longer receive notifications when shared files have been viewed or downloaded. You will continue to receive all other shared file notifications.
- Reminder notifications will no longer be available for shared workflows.
- When a new user shares a link, a recipient of the link not directly invited by the owner of the document via an Adobe email invite will not be added to the list of collaborators; they will also not be able to access the link from their Shared by others list in Document Cloud.
- In the Acrobat desktop application, you will not be able to sort files based on file size, file last accessed, or file type. The filter option will also be removed for Document Cloud files.
- Acrobat Web will now limit the uploading of certain file formats to Document Cloud.
Detail of changes
When you share a link to a document, the original file will be shared with the recipients instead of a copy. To make any changes to the original shared file, you will need to save a copy. This change is part of our ongoing development to support improvements in collaboration, security, configurability, and storage in the coming year.
The ability to track participants' status in the shared link will be removed. You will no longer receive notifications when shared files have been viewed or downloaded. You will continue to receive other shared file notifications. The following is the UI impact:
- The Activity section won't be visible in the right-pane menu of the documents Shared by you.
- Anonymous collaborators won't be visible in the list of recipients for documents shared as public links.
- The Status column showing the activity on the shared document, (like the number of people who have Viewed, or Commented) will be removed.
- The document status like Last accessed, Finished commenting, Not opened for other collaborators won't be visible. You can only see your own activity on the shared document.
- The Last activity column will now reflect your activity on the document. You will not see the updated last activity status of other recipients on a shared document.
- You won't receive any notifications for shared documents like Shared by you, Shared for viewing, or if the recipient has downloaded the shared document.
You cannot set reminders for recipients to take action on a shared document.
- Recipients of links shared by the owners, who are not directly invited via an Adobe email invite, will not be added to the People list of the shared document. They will also be unable to access it from their Shared by others list in Document Cloud.
- For links Shared for viewing by new users, the Save link option will be removed and no longer available.
- For links Shared for review by new users, the Add me option will be removed and no longer available.
In the Acrobat desktop application, the sorting of files will now be based on the authors' activity instead of the recipient's. Support for sorting files on the following three parameters will no longer be available:
- File size
- File last accessed
- File type
In the Acrobat Desktop application, the filter option will be removed from the following areas:
- Document Cloud Home tab
- Custom file open dialog
