Retain previous versions of your app

When you install a new version of a Creative Cloud app, its previous version is removed by default. However, you can set a preference to retain the previous version.

Note:

If you have a school or work account, and your organization has disabled auto-updates, the auto-update option will not appear in the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  1. Select the Account icon in the upper-right of the Creative Cloud desktop app, and then select Preferences.

The account menu shows options to launch the Preferences window, go to Adobe account, view terms of use and privacy policy, and sign out.
Selecting Preferences will open a new window.

  2. Select the Apps tab in the sidebar and enable the Auto-update option.

The Apps tab in the Preferences window shows the options to turn on or off auto-updates, change install location and default install language, and more.
Switching to Auto-update will save you from manually updating each application.

  3. Select Advanced options for the desired app.

The Apps tab in the Preferences window shows the Auto-update sections with options to turn auto-updates on or off for all apps and individual apps, and display advanced options.
You can select Advanced options to download previous versions for multiple apps at a time.

  4. Unselect Remove older versions, and then select Done.

The Apps tab in the Preferences window shows the Auto-update sections with options to turn auto-updates on or off for all apps and individual apps, import previous settings and preferences, and remove older versions.
Unselecting this option will allow the application/s to auto-update easily while keeping your desired version.
