Creative Cloud apps prompts to sign in repeatedly for earlier versions

When you attempt to sign in to an Adobe application in 2018 and earlier versions, the login screen keeps popping up.

Note:

If you're facing this issue while using Acrobat, you may need to perform additional troubleshooting.

Restricted permissions on your computer most often cause this issue for these folders:

  • Adobe PCD
  • SLStore

The SLStore and Adobe PCD folders on your Windows device don’t have the required permissions

To resolve the error, first set folder and search options.

  1. Open a File Explorer window.

  2. Select the View tab, then choose Show > Hidden items.

Location of both folders in Windows 11:

SLStore

ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore

Adobe PCD

  • Windows 64 bit: Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ Adobe PCD\

Location of both folders in Windows 10:

SLStore

ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore

Adobe PCD

  • Windows 32 bit: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\
  • Windows 64 bit: Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ Adobe PCD\

To resolve this issue, set permissions for both the SLStore and the Adobe PCD folders.

  1. In File Explorer, right-click the Adobe PCD or the SLStore folder, and select Properties.

  2. Select the Security tab, and then select Edit.
    Adobe PCD

    • Administrators: Full control

    SLStore

    • Administrators: Full control
    • System: Full control
    • Users: Read & Special permissions
    The SLStore Permissions window displays Windows user-profiles and their respective permissions, with the option to add or remove a user and apply changes.
    Select the checkbox under the Allow column to grant the required permissions.

  3. Select OK to close the Permissions dialog box.

  4. Select Advanced in the Properties dialog box.

  5. Select Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object

    The Advanced Security Settings window for SLStore displays the option to replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object.
    Select the checkbox in the highlighted section to update the child object permission entries.

  6. Select OK, and then choose Yes.

  7. Select OK to close the SLStore or Adobe PCD Properties dialog box.

 

The SLStore and Adobe PCD folders on your Windows device don’t have the required permissions

Resolve this issue by setting permissions for both the SLStore and the Adobe PCD folders.

To set permission for the Adobe SLStore folder, follow these steps:

  1. Use the Finder to navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore.

  2. Control-select the folder and choose Get Info.

  3. In the Info window, expand the Sharing & Permissions section.

  4. Select the lock icon in the lower-right corner. When prompted, enter your administrator username and password and select OK.

  5. Set the following permissions:

    • System: Read & Write
    • Admin: Read & Write
    • Everyone: Read & Write

    Set the correct permissions under Privileges in the SLStore Info window.

  6. Select the gear icon and choose Apply to enclosed items.

  7. Close the SLStore Info window.

To set permission for the Adobe PCD folder, follow these steps:

  1. Use the Finder to navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD.

  2. Control-select the folder and choose Get Info.

  3. In the Info window, expand the Sharing & Permissions section.

  4. Select the lock icon in the lower-right corner. When prompted, enter your administrator username and password, and then select OK.

  5. Set the following permissions:

    • System: Read & Write
    • Admin: Read only
    • Everyone: Read only

  6. Select the gear icon, and choose Apply to enclosed items.

  7. Close the Adobe PCD Info window.
