Apps not available in Creative Cloud Packager | Creative Cloud 2019

Caution:

Creative Cloud Packager is no longer in development and no updates will be provided. Also, Creative Cloud Packager cannot be used to create packages that include Creative Cloud 2019 apps or later. Learn More.

We recommend that you use the create package workflows provided in the Adobe Admin Console.

See how to create Named User Licensing packages and Shared Device Licensing packages.

When you launch Creative Cloud Packager, a message appears indicating that the latest release of Creative Cloud apps is only available in the Admin Console. For more information, see Packaging apps using the Admin Console.

You can use the Admin Console to create packages containing Creative Cloud 2019 versions of the apps. You cannot use Creative Cloud Packager to create packages that include Creative Cloud 2019 apps or later. The Creative Cloud Packager Applications and Updates screen  does  not display Creative Cloud 2019 apps.

The Creative Cloud 2019 apps do not support Device or Serial Number licenses. You cannot create Device License or Serial Number packages that contain Creative Cloud 2019 apps.

Solution

To create named user packages for Creative Cloud 2019 apps, go to the Packages tab in the Admin Console. For help on creating packages, see Package apps in the Admin Console. For more information, see Deploy and deliver apps and updates.

You can use the Admin Console to create packages for most scenarios. However, Creative Cloud Packager is also used to create licensed packages for some legacy use cases and workflows.

More information

Creative Cloud for education: Device license

The latest Creative Cloud 2019 apps do not support Device licenses. If your institution uses device licenses, you can continue to use the previous versions of the apps.

To continue using device licenses, ensure that end users don't upgrade to Creative Cloud 2019 version of the apps, and remain on their present versions.

  • If you package updates using Creative Cloud Packager, then no action is required, and you should remain on the 2018 versions of the products.
  • If your creative users have access to the Creative Cloud desktop app and can install products themselves, then, we recommend you disable updates. See Creative Cloud app and services | Customizations.

If users upgrade apps using the Creative Cloud desktop app and remove older versions, redeploy the Creative Cloud 2018 Device License package using Creative Cloud Packager.

Creative Cloud for teams

We are transitioning to a redesigned Admin Console. However, if you have the following Admin Console experience, you cannot use Creative Cloud Packager or the Admin Console to package Creative Cloud 2019 apps.

To deploy Creative Cloud 2019 apps to your end users, you must enable them to download and install the apps themselves.

You can create a Creative Cloud desktop app-only package. Do the following:

  1. Create a package that contains only the Creative Cloud desktop app.
  2. Choose the Elevated Privileges option.
  3. Deploy the package.
  4. End users can then install Creative Cloud 2019 apps via the Creative Cloud desktop app.

See this article for details.

Serial number licenses

The latest Creative Cloud 2019 apps do not support Serial numbers. If your institution or organization uses serial numbers to license the apps, you can continue to use the previous versions of the apps. To continue using serial number licenses, ensure that you do not upgrade to Creative Cloud 2019 version of the apps.

To continue using your apps, ensure that end users don't upgrade their apps to the Creative Cloud 2019 version, and remain on their present versions.

  • If you package updates using Creative Cloud Packager, then no action is required, and you should remain on the 2018 versions of the products.
  • If your creative users can access the Creative Cloud desktop app and install products, we recommend you disable updates. See Prevent end users from deploying apps and updates.

If users upgrade apps using the Creative Cloud desktop app and remove older versions, redeploy the Creative Cloud 2018 Serial License package using Creative Cloud Packager.

To deploy Creative Cloud 2019 apps, it is recommended that you adopt Named Licenses. You can quickly Set up Identity and then add users to give access to the latest apps and services.
