Updates repeatedly applied

Issue: Receive prompt to reapply the same update repeatedly

After applying an update, you are then prompted to reapply the same update again. This behavior can occur after a certain time period has occurred or after logging out and back in to the computer.

Solution 1: Sign out of Creative Cloud desktop application and sign in again

Solution 2: Archive the AAMUpdater folder in the associated User account.

Mac OS

  1. In the Finder, select the Go menu and choose Go to Folder.
  2. Enter the following location: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater.
  3. Select the 1.0 folder and rename it to ~1.0.

Windows 7 and 8

  1. Go to C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater.
  2. Select the 1.0 folder and rename it to ~1.0.

The contents of these folders will be re-created the next time an update check is performed.  If the folder isn't re-created, then your file permissions for the AAMUpdater folder could need to adjustment.  See Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 for information on how to adjust file permissions.

Solution 3: Reinstall Creative Cloud desktop application

Reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop application. After you uninstall the application, you can download and install it from https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.

Solution 4: Reinstall the affected application

Uninstall the affected application and reinstall it. For information on downloading and installing Creative Cloud applications, see http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html

Additional information

Corruption of files within the 1.0 folder or a file permission failure can lead to this condition.  If you continue to face the same error, then check for any system optimizer/utilities that affect the ability to write files to the previously referenced location.

Note:

Do not rename the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0 folder or the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0 folder.  Removal of this folder prevents the Adobe updater from detecting updates for your currently installed Adobe software titles.

To restore update functionality, remove and reinstall the affected Adobe software title. For information on how to uninstall the Adobe Creative applications, see Install and update apps.
