Yes, it is possible to create an alias for an image by using the "Save as additional view of master" functionality. The steps are as follows:

  1. In SPS, click Edit, and then Adjust under the image for which you want to create an alias.
  2. Click Save As in the lower-right corner.
  3. In the drop-down in the Save As dialog box, choose Save as additional view of master.
  4. Input your alias name under filename.
  5. Click Save.

The current invalid characters for assets include:

What is the maximum length of characters allowed in a filename?

  • Maximum characters allowed is 128 characters including filename extension.

What is the maximum length of characters allowed in an authored filename?

Authored files (XMLs, XSLTs, Profiles, Fonts, Vignettes, eVideos, Cabinet files, Window covering files) have a limit of 50 characters.

What is the maximum password length?

The IPS/SPS password length limit is 25 characters.

Is it possible to have the same image name in different folders?

The Scene7 system doesn’t allow Asset IDs with the same exact name in the system. If you try to upload an asset with the same name either it will get overwritten or will get followed by "-1". It is guided by the Overwrite setting that is set in the account. See the Help documentation for more information:
