Installation failed error on Scout CC or Lightroom 5

When installing Scout CC or Lightroom 5 using the Creative Cloud desktop app on Mac, the following error occurs:

"Installation Failed - Learn more"

Installation failed.

If you click "Learn more" a dialog box appears, which looks like the following:

If you click "More Information" the following appears: 

Exit Code: 7

A security certificate in certain versions of Adobe software has expired

The error occurs when you install the following applications from the Creative Cloud desktop app:

  • Adobe Scout CC
  • Lightroom 5

To avoid this error when installing from the Creative Cloud desktop app, follow these guidelines: 

  1. Install the latest versions of Adobe software. For example, if you install Lightroom 6/CC instead of Lightroom 5, the error will not occur. 
  2. If you would like to install Scout, use the individual installer available here: Download Adobe Scout CC

If you have attempted to install a package which includes the listed items and you have encountered this error, restart you computer before attempting to run another installation package.
