You can add impact and communicate your message clearly with video color adjustments.
What is color correction?
Color correction is a broad term that describes the adjustments you make to the colors and brightness of your visuals. This might mean adjusting colors to fix the wrong lighting used when filming or changing the entire color palette of a project to stay on-brand.
Discover the Lumetri Color panel
The Premiere Pro Lumetri Color panel offers several types of color adjustments. There are automatic color adjustment options to correct or match colors between camera angles, and advanced controls for professional color finishing.
Match clip colors
One of the first steps to take when you work with color is to make sure that all of your visuals have a consistent appearance. To maintain continuity, they should look like they were shot at the same time, on the same day, with the same lighting and camera setup.
Correct your white balance
An unwanted color cast can be a real distraction, so you will often begin by restoring the image to natural-looking colors. You can use the Lumetri Color panel’s controls to automatically correct color balance.
Match clip colors
Making sure that the colors match from one shot to the next can make a big difference to the audience experience. The Lumetri Color panel also has controls to automatically match the colors in your shots.
Apply basic corrections
In the Lumetri Color panel, you can add impact to your visuals by adjusting Color Temperature, Tint, Exposure, Contrast, and more. You can change the appearance of just one part of an image to effectively relight the shot. For example, you can increase the brightness where an important speaker appears onstage to draw attention to them.
Give footage a professional look
Correcting colors is just half the journey. Next, you’ll add a unique look to your shots. You could create a look for your whole project that matches your subject matter, or adjust the colors in different scenes to highlight separate sections of a program.
Add a Look preset with a click
Turn your everyday footage into a powerful movie moment. Multiple filmic looks are available in the Lumetri Color panel’s Creative section. Browse through dozens of previews, a simply click one to apply it to your shot. Even more presets are available in the Effects panel, which offers a number of visual effects to enhance your footage.
Make dramatic color adjustments for visual impact
Sometimes subtlety doesn’t get the message across — there are no rules when it comes to creative color work. The main thing is to be consistent, so pick some impactful changes and try them on all your shots to be sure they work for the whole project.
