Dispatcher / Apache in Windows OS Causes 100% CPU Utilization

Problem

When running Apache HTTP Server 2.2 and Dispatcher version lower than 4.0.7 on Windows, sometimes Apache takes 100% CPU usage (this is only when the dispatcher module is installed). Websites become completely unresponsive.

Cause

This issue is caused by the dispatcher module traversing the ACLs of the Windows directories when there is a large directory structure.

Resolution

Upgrade to Dispatcher module version 4.0.7 or later. The latest dispatcher version can be requested via a daycare ticket.
