Unable to create or lock file when using NAS

Symptoms

xx.xx.xxxx xx:xx:xx *ERROR* RepositoryImpl: failed to start Repository: Unable to create or lock file {instance_path}/crx-quickstart/repository/.lock: No locks available (RepositoryImpl.java, line 343) 
javax.jcr.RepositoryException: Unable to create or lock file {instance_path}/crx-quickstart/repository/.lock: No locks available: No locks available 

Cause

Your NAS (Network Attached Storage) does not support or is not configured to allow file locking.

Resolution

Use a NAS that supports file locking or if possible, reconfigure it to allow file locking.
