Acrobat now supports Apple devices with Apple Silicon M1 processors. Apple Silicon devices ship with Rosetta 2 - an emulator that enables ARM Macs to run Intel-based apps. You can now choose to run Acrobat in either native Apple Silicon mode or the Rosetta emulation mode. To use the native Apple Silicon mode, go to Acrobat > Preferences > General and select Enable native OS mode for optimal performance.

In a multi-monitor setup on macOS, Acrobat now detects the additional monitor and provides an option in the Window menu to move the Acrobat window to a different monitor. Go to Window > Move To [monitor name].
If you quit Acrobat from your secondary monitor, Acrobat remembers the last open settings and opens Acrobat on the same monitor if it's available. If the secondary monitor is not connected, Acrobat opens on the primary monitor.
On macOS, Acrobat now detects the system theme and automatically uses it as the display theme. To change the setting, go to View > Display Theme.
In addition to Dark and Light modes, if your macOS theme is set to Auto, Acrobat adjusts its theme as the system theme changes.
The Organize Pages sub-tools like insert, delete, or rotate pages are now available from the File menu, the Edit menu, and the Quick tools menu for ease of access.

To change a shared file, you must save a copy of the file. Acrobat now provides an option to save a copy of the file. Click the Save A Copy button on the prompt or the right pane.
If you try to edit a shared PDF file, Acrobat displays the Save a copy dialog box and prompts you to save a copy of the file to modify it.
Similarly, when you go to Acrobat > Tools, Acrobat disables any tools that you can use to modify a shared PDF and displays a message to save a copy of the file to modify it.
The sorting of files is now based on the authors' activity instead of the recipients'. Also, support for sorting files on the following parameters is removed:
- File size
- File last accessed
- File type
The filter option is also removed from the Document Cloud section and the custom file open dialog box.
- You can now sort the files stored in Document Cloud by name, shared by you, or shared by others, date added, or file size. Also, in the left navigation pane under the Document Cloud section, you now have the options to view all files, view files you have scanned and uploaded to Document Cloud, files shared by you, or files shared by others.
- The comment icon to distinguish review files is now removed for files listed in the Recent, Starred, Shared by you, or Shared by others list.
- The files Shared by you are now sorted by Date Modified instead of Last Activity.
The new recommended tools section in the Home view helps you discover tools that you have never used. As you use the tools, they are moved to the end of the list.
Creating an anonymous or public link for sharing files is now a two-step process. It's now easier to choose if you want to share a link for viewing or review. Do the following:

The Get a Link prompt displays the progress.
The link is created and copied by default. The shared file is open in Acrobat viewer after the link is created. You can also perform any of the following actions from the right pane:
- Add People with whom you want to share the document
- Unshare File
- Save A Copy of the file
- Acrobat displays a read-only copy of the shared file once the file is shared for view or review.
- The shared files appear either in Shared by Others or Shared by You tabs in Acrobat Home, depending on whether you have sent or received the files.

In the viewer, the right-click context menu is now optimized to help you quickly discover the frequently used tools and complete the tasks faster.

You can now change Acrobat's display size to make your screen easier to view. In Acrobat, go to View > Display Size, and then choose Small, Medium, or Large as per your screen size.

Adobe Sign is now renamed. You might see one of the following tool names for easier identification and alignment with the tool's actual purpose.

If you fill or sign a form and save it, Acrobat prompts you to save a read-only copy of the form or request signatures from others.
The Request signatures option is selected by default if Acrobat detects any unsigned fields in the PDF form. Else, the Save as a read-only copy option is selected.

Acrobat Reader now displays the following dialog if your free trial period is expired and you want to use the Request Signatures feature.
When you request signatures for your PDF document, the new user interface progressively displays the fields as you enter the details. For example, once you enter the recipients' name or email address, the next related fields are displayed like Add Cc, Subject, Message, and More Options.

Acrobat prompts you to use the Request Signature tool in any of the following cases:
When a PDF document is opened in Acrobat, and you hover over the Request Signature tool in the right pane, a visual prompt is displayed to help you share the document to get signatures from others.
If Acrobat detects any unsigned fields in the opened document, it displays a visual prompt to help you share the document to get signatures from others.
Also, Acrobat displays a similar message on the lower right corner of the right-hand pane.
When you send a PDF form by email, Acrobat detects the unsigned fields and selects the option Get e-signatures faster than email.
Click Next, and then add the email of the signers.
If Acrobat fails to detect any unsigned fields in the PDF, the Send by email option is selected.
After using the Fill & Sign tool on a PDF document, when you save a read-only copy of the certified PDF, Acrobat prompts you to create a shareable link or email the link to other recipients.
Further, when you close the file, Acrobat prompts you to save a copy of the document on the local machine. To save a copy, click Save Copy, choose the location, and then click Save.

iPhone and iPad
Acrobat Reader app now allows you to create a copy of shared files to modify them.
Acrobat’s premium subscription feature Compress a PDF now supports high, medium, and low compression levels. You can select the desired compression level to reduce the size of the PDF file for easy sharing.
You can now easily access your PDFs saved on your Google Drive account from the Recents menu in the Acrobat Reader app.
- Share a copy is now called Send a copy. Access to Send a copy can be found in the More (…) menu.
- Acrobat now allows you to directly send a copy of unshared PDF files. You can copy a file and send it as an email attachment or via message, save on any cloud location, AirDrop, or open in another app.

Android
You can now access all the PDF files from an associated Gmail account to open one or more PDFs in Acrobat. You can Open PDF from Emails to view the details, edit the file, share the file, and more.
- Acrobat Reader app now provides on-device conversion of files for selected top-end Android devices.
- You can now set the Liquid mode as the default for your PDF files. The qualified files are auto-opened in Liquid mode.

- Support for Android 6 is now dropped with the July release of the Acrobat Reader app. Android 6 users will still have access to the older version (21.7) of the app on the Play store.

Acrobat online services

The Discover tab is a collection of cards meant to help you easily find services, apps, and add-ins available in the Acrobat ecosystem. The ecosystem enables you to take quick action on documents, workflows, and tasks — across multiple screens and devices — anywhere, anytime, and inside your favourite browsers and online storage accounts.
After you sign in to the Acrobat home page, the Discover tab is displayed below the welcome message on the home page. A collection of cards are displayed on the tab. Use the arrow button on the last or first card to browse through the collection.
To try a particular service, app, or add-in, click the corresponding card and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process. Afterwards, the card is marked as Completed or Already Installed. When you visit next time, those cards are moved at the end of the collection.
When you hover over a file, Acrobat displays actions you can perform on the selected file like Edit, Share, Get Link, or Star.
You can now view and edit Microsoft documents (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) stored in your Document Cloud directly from your web browser. You have the full functionality of editing without having to start up an MS Office program. When you edit a Microsoft document, it opens in the editing mode in a new browser tab.
The Adobe Acrobat extension for Chrome makes your document tasks easier and faster by allowing you to interact with Acrobat directly from within Chrome. For more information, see Adobe Acrobat extension for Microsoft Edge.
After converting Word to PDF online for the first time, Acrobat prompts you to use other related tools on your converted PDF file like Edit PDF, Fill and Sign, and Delete Pages.
