Media Portal user management FAQ

This document covers issues related to Media Portal (MP) user management. For example, find out about Media Portal group permissions model, and email-to-user functionality.

By design, built assets like SpinSet, MediaSet, VideoSet, and so on, aren't visible to a Media Portal (MP) user. However, if you have an asset like image/video, it is visible to the MP user if it has read/write/delete permissions.

The SPS Help contains a good description of the user roles. You can get to the Media Portal roles by going to Help > Help Contents > Media Portal > Media Portal User Roles. Here is the direct link:

You can find the SPS user role description by going to Help > Help Contents > Setup > Administration Setup. Then go down to User Administration for the description for Company Administrator and SPS User.

The Media Portal FTP functionality is available for Media Portal Admin, Contributor-User and Contributor.

Handling user not assigned message

Please follow these steps to assign users to groups:

1. Login to SPS/MP as an admin.
2. Create/Edit a user group- Setup>Media Portal Setup>Groups 
3. Assign the access permissions (folders as well as assets)
4. IMPORTANT : Don’t forget to select the users from the user list and assign them to the group by clicking on “ASSIGNED” checkbox.
5. Click Close.
