When you choose File > Place text from a word processing application, endnotes are preserved and the citation text is placed on a new page at the end of your story.

To insert a new endnote, select the Type tool (T) and click to add an insertion point next to a word or sentence where you want to add the endnote. Right-click and select Insert Endnote. A superscripted reference number is added, and you can type the text on the Endnotes page. New endnotes are placed in chronological order with imported endnotes.

You can easily change the appearance of the endnotes and decide where to position them in the document. Choose Type > Document Endnote Options. Here you can change the numbering style, apply paragraph and character styles, and much more. Tip: Try applying the ready-to-use Endnote text Paragraph Style and Endnote reference Character Style to your endnotes.
Endnotes are created at the end of a document by default, but you can choose to position endnotes at the end of a story instead.
Tip: When you import a document with endnotes, new Paragraph and Character Styles are created. Edit those for fine typographic control and efficiency.

To navigate between the endnote and text, right-click the endnote and select either Go to Endnote Text or Go to Endnote Reference, depending on what you clicked.
