The Comment tools in Acrobat feel familiar because they replicate similar tools you may have already used in other word processing programs. Click the Comment tool in the right menu. It will provide you with tools to help you comment and use markup to effectively provide feedback in one central location.
The text markup tools provide clear and concise direction on change requests and ideas. These tools offer familiar options, such as allowing you to Insert Text or annotate Strikethrough with comments. Each tool has a specific purpose to ensure your changes are understood.
- Strikethrough text: Allows you to add a comment to the word or phrase you crossed out.
- Underline text: Allows you to add a comment to the word or phrase you underlined.
- Add note to replace text: Creates a blue strikethrough and comment box, allowing you to specify the replacement text.
- Insert text at cursor: Creates an insertion point and comment box allowing you to specify where you would like to insert additional text.
- Add text: Simply click on an area within the PDF to add a custom text comment directly on the page. You can also control font, size, and color as well.
Use commenting tools to annotate, highlight, and approve or reject content. You can also track revision history with the author information that is attached to each edit. Familiar tools provide familiar results.
Add Sticky Note is a pop-up annotation that can be activated by clicking, or seen on the Comments panel to the right. There are three little dots on the right of every sticky note comment. This valuable mini-menu allows you to personalize the comment even further. Set Status allows you to track progress on specific requests (accepted, canceled, completed, or rejected). Properties allows you to change the Appearance of your sticky note icon, such as color, shape, and opacity, and Review History of your sticky note progress.
Tip: For a quick commenting workflow, simply right-click on the item you want to comment on and choose Add Sticky Note.
Tip: Use the three-dot menu to mark sticky notes as complete with a checkmark or status change.
The Highlight Text tool feels familiar. However, you have the ability to add detailed comments about your highlight. You can also Set Status, alter the Properties menu to further organize your highlights, and change the color and opacity of the highlight to allow for multiple annotation types.
Tip: Use Highlight Text in combination with the Keep Tool Selected pushpin icon to highlight multiple items quickly.
The Add Stamp tool allows you to choose from several predefined or dynamic stamps. Dynamic stamps show the date, time and collaborator’s name. There are Sign Here flags to request initials or signatures, as well as Standard Business stamps, such as Approved, Draft, and Confidential. You can even create your own Custom Stamps.
Acrobat’s Send for Review (or Send for Comment on Mac) feature adds each recipient’s comments automatically to your PDF. Acrobat consolidates reviewers’ comments into one PDF and identifies them with corresponding names and time stamps. You can add people anytime, set deadlines, and send reminders. Collecting feedback, tracking reviews, and comments is a snap.
Edits and revisions can be hard to read and compile when multiple editors provide feedback in email chains and hand-written markup. Acrobat’s Comment and markup tools reduce confusion and consolidate edits and comments into one document using tools that everyone can understand.
