Record markedTimeStamp error does not exist during DataStore GC

Issue

When running DataStore Garbage Collection (Blob GC on a FileDataStore), we see the markedTimestamp error below:

Environment

AEM 6.1 + Oak 1.2.20 or earlier

Cause

This error was fixed in 1.2.21 (OAK-5078). It is because the paths in the FileDataStore configuration are relative.

Resolution

There are two possible solutions:

A. Set the datastore path to an absolute path

  1. Login to the server where AEM is installed.
  2. Open the crx-quickstart/install directory.
  3. Open the file org.apache.jackrabbit.oak.plugins.blob.datastore.FileDataStore.cfg or org.apache.jackrabbit.oak.plugins.blob.datastore.FileDataStore.config under crx-quickstart/install
  4. Edit the path variable and set the path to an absolute path to the datastore instead of a relative one.

For example:

Before: path=./crx-quickstart/repository/datastore

After: path=/opt/aem/author/crx-quickstart/repository/datastore

B. Upgrade AEM or update Oak to 1.2.21 or later version

Either upgrade to AEM6.2 or later or apply the latest Oak hotfix from here:
