Apply a shadow to text

  • Select a text object in your layout.
  • Select the Shadow option in the Appearance pane of the Inspector panel.
  • Set the X offset value, the Y offset value, and the B (blur) amount to your desired amounts.
  • Click the color swatch for Shadow to choose a new color.
  • Select the Eyedropper tool and sample a darker color from your layout.
  • Set the opacity of the color to something less than 100%.
  • Click the plus sign to add the color to the Color dialog box.

Apply a shadow to artwork

  • Select some path objects in your layout.
  • Enable the Shadow option in the Appearance pane of the Inspector panel.
  • Set the X offset, the Y offset, and the B (blur) amount to your desired amounts.

Blur an image

  • Select the image in your layout.
  • Select the Blur option in the Appearance pane of the Inspector panel.
  • Set the Blur menu to Object Blur.
  • Drag the slider to your desired blur amount.
