This page is a mainly focussed on understanding the AEM mobile application dashboard.

You can manage your application and mobile app content from AEM Mobile Apps Control Center.

You can drill into each tile in the Control Center to view or edit details by clicking the '...' in the bottom right corner.

You can rearrange the order of the tiles by clicking the tile's grabber icon (top left 9 dots). The order change is user specific – different for individual users.

Managing app content requires a collective effort from developers, content authors and administrators.  Authors manipulate pages, which are in turn based off of templates and components generated by app developers.  

Finally, administrators strategically publish the updated app content.

For Authors - The Manage App Tile

The Manage App Tile displays available application information:

  • Title
  • Description
  • Icon
  • Last Modified
  • Last Modified By

For Authors - The Manage Connection Tile

The Manage Connection tile displays the AEM Mobile On-Demand Services connection information:

  • Coud Configuration name
  • Project name and ID
  • Connection status

Click the gear in the top right to setup a Mobile On-Demand Cloud configuration.

Actions

  • Select Experience Manager Mobile Cloud Config*
  • Select Manage Experience Manager Mobile Cloud Configurations
  • Select an Experience Manager Mobile Project
  • Choose Cancel or Update

For Authors - Managing Entities

These 3 tiles provide an overview of the state of an app's content:

  • banners
  • articles 
  • collections  

Each tile can be expanded to provide a more detailed list view by clicking on the ellipsis (...) in the bottom right corner.  These list views provide an alternate way to access common Mobile On Demand actions like delete, upload, and edit properties.

The Manage Banners Tile

The Manage Banners tile allows you to manage the content for a banner. The following information is displayed for a banner:

  • image
  • TITLE: name of the banner
  • MODIFIED: last modified in AEM
  • UPLOADED: last uploaded from AEM
  • PUBLISHED: last published request form AEM
  • SOURCE: source (AEM local or remote from Mobile On Demand)

Actions

  • Create 
  • Import
  • GOTO > Banner list view

Creating a Banner

Follow these steps to create a banner from Manage Banners tile.

  1. Click   to create a banner. 
  2. Enter the mandatory Properties such as Banner Name and Banner Title and optional information such as Banner Short Title, Banner Abstract, Banner Short Abstract, Author, Author URL, Department Category, Keywords, Internal Keywords, Banner Access, and Banner Importance. Additionally, you can set the banner tap behavior and the external link. Click Next.
  3. Check the Advertisement option. Select an AD TypeAd Category, and the Advertiser Name. Click Next.
  4. Upload the Banner Image. Click Next.
  5. Choose a Collection to which you want to link your article to. 
  6. Click Create to create a new banner.

The Manage Articles Tile

The Manage Articles tile allows you to manage the content for an article. The following information is displayed for an article:

  • image
  • TITLE: name of the article
  • MODIFIED: last modified in AEM
  • UPLOADED: last uploaded from AEM
  • PUBLISHED: last published request form AEM
  • SOURCE: source (AEM local or remote from Mobile On-Demand)

Actions

  • Create 
  • Import
  • GOTO > Article list view

Creating an Article

Follow these steps to create an article from Manage Articles tile.

  1. Click   to create an article. Choose either the Unlimited Article or the Rich Text Article as a template. Click Next.
  2. Enter the mandatory Properties such as Article Name and Article Title and optional information such as Article Short Title, Article Abstract, Article Short Abstract, Author, Author URL, Department Category, Keywords, Internal Keywords, Article Access, and Article Importance. Additionally, you can also enable the hide option from browse page and the extensibility feature for the article. Click Next.
  3. Check the Advertisement option. Select an AD Type, Ad Category, and the Advertiser Name. Click Next.
  4. Upload an Article Image and Social Media Image. Click Next.
  5. Choose a Collection to which you want to link your article to. Click Next.
  6. Enter information for Social Sharing such as Article Text for Social Sharing, Social Share URL, and Web Article URL.
  7. Click Create to create a new article.

The Manage Collections Tile

The Manage Collections tile allows you to manage the content for a collection. The following information is displayed for a collection:

  • image
  • TITLE: name of the collection
  • MODIFIED: last modified in AEM
  • UPLOADED: last uploaded from AEM
  • PUBLISHED: last published request form AEM
  • SOURCE: source (AEM local or remote from Mobile On-Demand)

Actions

  • Create 
  • Import
  • GOTO > Collection list view

Creating a Collection

Follow these steps to create an article from Manage Collections tile.

  1. Click   to create a collection. 
  2. Enter the mandatory Properties such as Collection Name and Collection Title and optional information such as Collection Short Title, Collection Abstract, Collection Short Abstract, Product ID, Department, Category, Keywords, Internal Keywords, Reading PositionCollection Open Default, and Collection Importance. Click Next.
  3. Choose a Layout. Click Next.
  4. Upload a Collection Image and Collection Background Image
  5. Click Create to create a new banner.
