Adobe Journey Optimizer, built on Adobe Experience Platform, allows Customer to orchestrate omnichannel Journeys, determine the next best action to take for their customers and deliver contextualized Offers that are personalized and optimized in-the-moment.

1 Engageable Audience. Customer may store and process up to the number of Engageable Profiles authorized in the Sales Order.

Scoping Parameters

  1. Average Profile Richness. Customer’s Average Profile Richness may be less than or equal to 75 kilobytes per Addressable Profile.
  2. Direct Mail actions may only be used to export data for purposes related to the execution of Customer’s direct mail Marketing Programs managed in Journey Optimizer.
  3. Domain Delegations. Customer may delegate up to 10 domains.
  4. Messages. Customer may send an average of up to 60 Messages (consisting of either email or push Messages) per contracted Engageable Profile per year.

Performance Guardrails 

  1. Email Size.  Journey Optimizer Peak Volume has been scoped to support email sizes of up to 100 kilobytes. 
  2. Offers per Email. Journey Optimizer Peak Volume has been scoped to support up to 10 Offers per email. 
  3. Personalization Fields.  Journey Optimizer Peak Volume has been scoped to support up to 5 Personalization Fields.
  4. Push Size. Journey Optimizer Peak Volume has been scoped to support push Message sizes of up to 4 kilobytes. 
  5. Sandboxes. Journey Optimizer includes up to 5 Sandboxes.

Static Limits

1. Static Limits for Journey Optimizer Select

a. Ad Hoc Queries. Ad Hoc Queries will time out after 10 minutes.

b. Addressable Audience. Customers are entitled to maintain an Addressable Audience equal to the 125% of their contracted Engageable Audience; for example, if Customer has licensed 10 million Engageable Audience, the max allowable Addressable Audience will be 12.5 million. 

c. Adobe Audience Manager Data Flows.  For customers ingesting data into Journey Optimizer from Adobe Audience Manager, Journey Optimizer only supports first-party data sources flowing from Adobe Audience Manager to the Profile Service to be engaged through Journey Optimizer. 

d. Adobe Experience Manager Assets Essentials. Journey Optimizer includes use of Adobe Experience Manager Assets Essentials which includes up to 5 Assets Essentials Users, up to 100 Consumer Users, and 1 terabyte of Adobe Experience Manager Cloud Service Storage.

e. Audience Activation.  Customer may export an average of up to 1,500 kilobytes of Second-generation Data per Addressable Profile per year only via Custom Actions. 

f. Automated Dataset Expiration. Customer may schedule up to 20 automated dataset expiration work orders per month.

g. Batch Segmentation Completion Time.  Batch Segmentation Jobs may take up to 7 hours to complete. 

h. Batch Segmentation Jobs.  Customer may process up to 1 Batch Segmentation Job per day.

i. BCC: The BCC feature functions with the email Channel only. Customer may add Customer’s email address to the BCC inbox for the purpose of receiving an archival copy of a Message. Each email sent using BCC will count against the licensed quantity of Messages. For example, 5 emails sent to Recipients with the use of BCC will count as 10 Messages sent (5 Messages to Recipients and 5 Messages to Customer). Usage of BCC is subject to the applicable limits for Peak Volume per hour as a shared Peak Volume limit, which is shared between the number of email transmissions to Recipients and the number of BCC email transmissions to Customer.

j. Channels. Journey Optimizer supports email, push, and SMS Channels.

k. Custom Actions. Custom Actions may only be used to import or export data for purposes related to the execution of the Customer’s Marketing Programs managed in Journey Optimizer.

l. Data Ingested per Year.  Customer may ingest up to 3 times the Total Authorized Profile Storage into Journey Optimizer per year. 

m. Data Landing Zone. Customer will receive access to one Data Landing Zone per Sandbox. The maximum data Customer may store across all Data Landing Zones is equal to the total data storage provided in connection with all Adobe Experience Platform Products and Services licensed to Customer. Customer may use the Data Landing Zone solely to move Customer Data into and out of Adobe Experience Platform. Data will be automatically deleted from the Data landing Zone after 7 days.

n. First-generation Data Activation.  Customer may export, through batch, to any non-Adobe solution (directly or indirectly) an average of up to 500 kilobytes of First-generation Data per Addressable Profile per year through the Data Access API (or any other means within Journey Optimizer).

o. Journey AI. Customer may run one instance of Journey AI Send Time Optimization model for email, and one instance of Journey AI Send Time Optimization model for push notifications.

p. Preview/Estimate.   Journey Optimizer supports up to 5 concurrent Users of the preview/estimate functionality of the Segmentation Service.  Preview/estimate requests may take up to 30 seconds to complete.  If more than the allotted preview/estimate Users are working concurrently, Customer may experience performance degradation. 

q. Profile Merge Policies.  Customer may use up to 1 concurrent Profile Merge Policy.

r. SMS Length. Journey Optimizer supports the delivery of SMS Message containing up to 1500 characters per Message.

s. Sources.  Customer may configure up to 5 Concurrent Non-Adobe Sources into Journey Optimizer (through UI and API), although Customer may not import data from Advanced Enterprise Source Connectors. 

t. Transactional Messaging.  Transactional Messaging functions with the following Channels: email, push, and SMS.

u. Unlicensed Features.  Certain features of Journey Optimizer may be accessed through Adobe Experience Platform.  Customer is not licensed to, and must not, access or use any features in Adobe Experience Platform not contemplated herein, including without limitation the Data Science Workspace components, unless separately licensed. In addition, Customer is not licensed to, and must not, access or use the Data Lake or Query Service components in Adobe Experience Platform, except for use in conjunction with Bundled Services, unless separately licensed.  

 

2. Static Limits for Journey Optimizer Prime

a. All Static Limits for Journey Optimizer Select, plus:

b. Streaming Segmentation.  Streaming Segmentation supports up to 1500 inbound events per second.  Streaming Segmentation may take up to 5 minutes to qualify a Profile for segment membership. 

 

3. Static Limits for Journey Optimizer Ultimate

a. All Static Limits for Journey Optimizer Prime, plus:

b. Approved Personalized Offers + Fallback Offers. Up to 10,000 combined approved Personalized Offers and approved Fallback Offers.

c. Decision Activities.  Up to 10,000 Decision Activities.

d. Collections.  Up to 10,000 Collections.

e. Collections per Decision Activity.  Up to 30 Collections per Decision Activity.

f. Decision Rules + Ranking Functions. Up to 10,000 combined Decision Rules and Ranking Functions.

g. Live Decision Activities.  Up to 1,000 Live Decision Activities.

h. Placements. Up to 1,000 Placements.

i. Placements per Decision Activity.  Up to 30 Placements per Decision Activity.

j. Ranking Functions per Decision Activity.  Up to 30 Ranking Functions per Decision Activity.

k. Tags per Offer or Collection.  Up to 20 Tags in any single Personalized Offer or single Collection.

l. Total Tags. Up to 1,000 Tags.

Definitions 

Additional Ad Hoc Query Users means an Add-on to increase Customer’s authorized concurrent Query Service Users entitlement from 1 to 5 for the first Additional Ad Hoc Query Users pack purchased, and by 5 additional concurrent Query Service users and 1 additional concurrently running Ad Hoc Query for every subsequent Additional Ad Hoc Query Users pack purchased (e.g., a customer licensing 1 Additional Ad Hoc Query User pack will be entitled to a total of 5 concurrent Query Service Users and 1 concurrently running Ad Hoc Query while a customer licensing 2 Additional Ad Hoc Query User packs will be entitled to a total of 10 concurrent Query Service Users and 2 concurrently running Ad Hoc Queries).

Additional Profile Richness means an increase in Customer’s authorized Average Profile Richness by 25 kilobytes per Addressable Profile per Additional Profile Richness pack. 

Add-on(s) means additional product related features that may be licensed by Customer as identified in the Sales Order.

Addressable Audience means the audience of Addressable Profiles. Addressable Audience is a Shared Feature.

Addressable Profiles means the Profiles available in the Profile Service, ready to be activated on using any connected solution.  Addressable Profiles are a Shared Feature.

Ad Hoc Query means an Ad Hoc query generated from the Query Service Editor, PSQL Client, Customer’s BI Tool or Data Science Workspace, as applicable. 

Adobe Experience Manager Assets Essentials means a collaborative workspace to store, discover, and distribute digital assets. 

Adobe Experience Manager Cloud Service Storage means the total combined storage available, at any one time, for all active data and content in Adobe Experience Manager Assets Essentials.

Adobe Experience Platform means an open and extensible collection of services that allows Customer to create and manage actionable Profiles using various sources across its enterprise and to analyze data to derive insights and drive personalized experiences. 

Advanced Enterprise Source Connectors means Amazon Redshift, Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Azure EventHub, Azure Synapse Analytics, Google BigQuery, Google PubSub, and Snowflake. 

Assets Essentials User means a User who may use or access all of the capabilities of Adobe Experience Manager Assets Essentials to perform asset management operations, including bulk upload, review and approval of assets, and digital asset governance.

Average Non-production Profile Richness means the sum of all data stored within Non-production Sandboxes at any point in time, divided by the number of authorized Non-production Addressable Profiles.  Average Non-production Profile Richness is a Shared Feature.

Average Profile Richness means the sum of all data stored within the Profile stores in Adobe Experience Platform (i.e., Profile Service and Identity Service) at any point in time, divided by the number of authorized Addressable Profiles. Average Profile Richness is a Shared Feature.

Batch Segmentation Job means a call to execute the evaluation of defined segments for all existing Profiles, which may be initiated or scheduled via Adobe Experience Platform APIs, the Adobe Experience Platform UI or any integrated solution. Batch Segmentation Jobs are a Shared Feature.

BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) means an identical copy of a Message via email transmission that is sent to an addressee (Customer) which is not visible to the Recipient as the primary addressee.

Bundled Services means access to the following limited Adobe Experience Platform services: 

  • Data Lake.  Customer may access Customer Data in the Data Lake for up to:
    • 7 days solely to facilitate data onboarding into Journey Optimizer, limited Ad Hoc Queries and First-generation Data Activation.
  • Query Service.  Customer’s right to use Query Service is limited to running Ad Hoc Queries and supports up to 1 concurrent Query Service User and up to 1 concurrently Ad Hoc Query for the purpose of data ingestion validation.  

Campaign means an activity that results in communication from a Channel covering audience based scheduled marketing use cases as well as unitary type on demand transactional use cases executed via API.

Channel(s) means distinct modes of communication between Customer and Recipients that supports native authoring, delivery, and reporting of Messages. 

Collection means a subset of Personalized Offers based on predefined conditions defined by Customer, such as category of the Personalized Offer.

Concurrent Non-Adobe Sources means the number of non-Adobe data sources that Customer can link to Adobe Experience Platform concurrently.  Concurrent Non-Adobe Sources are a Shared Feature.  

Consumer User means a User who may browse, select, and use assets using the Asset Selector feature of Adobe Experience Manager Assets Essentials accessed through the Journey Optimizer user interface. 

Custom Actions means Customer-configured connections to external (to Journey Optimizer) destinations in order to send/receive Messages or API calls.

Data Lake means the analytical data store within Adobe Experience Platform. 

Data Landing Zone means a cloud-based data storage facility for temporary file storage provisioned with Adobe Experience Platform that Customer may use, as an option, to move data into and out of Adobe Experience Platform. Data Landing Zones are a Shared Feature.

Decision means a set of criteria that determines the selection of the best Personalized Offer(s) for a given Profile via a Decisioning API Request.

Decision Activity means an object that encompasses the Collection, Placement, and other constraints to determine the best Personalized Offer for a given Profile.

Decisioning API Request means an API request to Journey Optimizer requesting the best Personalized Offer(s) for a given Profile for a given Decision Activity.

Decision Rule means constraints added to a Personalized Offer and applied to a Profile to determine eligibility.

Deliverability Fundamentals means deliverability services which may include, during the initial IP warming phase for new customer onboarding: (1) assessment of the existing marketing plan and creation of a customized ramp-up calendar based on Customer's existing practices, data, volume, and frequency of email transmissions; (2) determination of the appropriate domains and number of IP addresses to be used; and (3) recommendations for changes to the ramp-up calendar based on analysis using performance monitoring and reputation metrics.

Deliverability Package means an Add-on package associated with the applicable licensed deliverability offering, identified in the table below as Deliverability Essentials, Deliverability Enhanced, or Deliverability Plus. Each Deliverability Package offers additional deliverability services, which are outside the scope of the deliverability services included in the license of Adobe Journey Optimizer and defined as Deliverability Fundamentals. Customer may purchase a maximum of one Deliverability Package per one license of Adobe Journey Optimizer.

Directly Identifiable Information means information that can be used to directly identify an individual person, including Stable Identifiers. 

Directly Identifiable Profile means a merged Profile that includes Directly Identifiable Information. 

Domain Delegation(s) means the number of designated domains of Customer requiring support from Adobe in connection with email Journeys. 

Engageable Audience means the audience of Engageable Profiles.

Engageable Profile means a record of information representing an individual, that is represented in the Profile Service, that Customer has attempted to engage using Journey Optimizer’s authoring, decisioning, delivery, experimentation, or orchestration capabilities during the past 12 months.

Entitlements means usage limits that are strictly monitored and enforced by Adobe.  Should Customer exceed an Entitlement, Customer may be obligated to pay overusage fees or license additional capacity. 

Fallback Offer means the default offer presented to a Profile that does not trigger the selection of a Personalized Offer.

First-generation Data means raw data (i.e., data that has not been enriched with insights, correlations, audience creation, etc. via Journey Optimizer) directly ingested into Journey Optimizer from Customer’s data stores or Adobe Experience Cloud solutions. 

Healthcare Shield is an Adobe Experience Platform Add-on designed to provide access to the following advanced privacy, governance, and security capabilities: automated consent policy enforcement, customer managed keys, extended thresholds for automated dataset expiration (up to 50 work orders per month).

Identity Graph means observed relationships between 1 or more identities, which are determined to refer to the same individual. 

Identity Service means a service in the Adobe Experience Platform that creates and manages Identity Graphs. Identity Service is a Shared Feature. 

IPv4 Address means a unique identifier of email streams used to enable sending Messages using the email Channel. The licensed number of IPv4 Addresses is scoped to support the applicable Peak Volume of Messages (for transmission of emails only) per hour.

Journey means a collection of orchestration objects that encompasses Journey Events, Messages, or Custom Actions.

Journey AI means the capability to optimize send times to maximize clicks or opens by utilizing Send-Time Optimization. 

Journey Events means an API call to be used to start, progress, or end Journeys (including, but not limited to, API calls between Journey Optimizer and Real-time Customer Data Platform, Adobe Experience Platform Activation, Adobe solutions or third-party services).

Marketing Program means an object with a defined Message and target segment executed through an available Channel.

Message means an object authored and delivered by Customer using Journey Optimizer.

Non-production Profiles means Profiles that can only be deployed in Non-production Sandboxes for development and testing purposes. 

Non-production Sandbox means a Sandbox that can be used exclusively for development and testing with Non-production Profiles.  Non-production Sandboxes support a volume of Non-production Engageable Profiles and Non-production Addressable Profiles up to 10% of Customer’s licensed Engageable Audience and Addressable Audience commitments.  Non-production Profiles are provided in addition to Customer’s licensed Engageable Audience and Addressable Audience commitments. Customer is entitled to up to: (i) an Average Non-production Profile Richness of 75 kilobytes per authorized Non-production Addressable Profile and (ii) 1 Batch Segmentation Job per day per Non-production Sandbox. 

Offer means either a Personalized Offer or a Fallback Offer and Offers can refer to either Personalized Offers or Fallback Offers or a combination of both in Customer’s use of Offer Decisioning.

Offer Decisioning means the ability to define, manage and deliver Offers.

Peak Volume means the highest capacity peak at a given point that is applicable to the aggregate number of Messages, Journey Events, or Offer Decisions sent through all Sandboxes and Marketing Programs and does not apply to each Sandbox or Marketing Programs executed concurrently. Failure to adhere to Performance Guardrails or the performance limitations of Customer’s sources and destinations of data may reduce Peak Volume.

Performance Guardrails means usage limits that relate to the scoping of Customer’s proposed use case. Should Customer exceed a Performance Guardrail, Customer may experience performance degradation; Adobe will not be responsible for such performance degradation. 

Personalization Field means a field within a Message that may be modified for each Recipient.

Personalized Offer means a customizable marketing Message based on eligibility rules and constraints.

Placement means the location and or context in which a Personalized Offer appears for Recipients (e.g., homepage_banner, email_main_image, etc.).

Privacy and Security Shield is an Adobe Experience Platform Add-on enabling Customer to access the following advanced privacy, governance, and security capabilities: automated consent policy enforcement, customer managed keys, extended thresholds for automated dataset expiration (up to 50 work orders per month).

Profile means a record of information representing an individual (including Directly Identifiable Profiles and Pseudonymous Profiles) as represented in the Profile Service.  Data included in a Profile may include data related to the individual’s attributes, behavior, and segment membership.  Profile volumes are determined based on the default deterministic Identity Graph included with Journey Optimizer. 

Profile Merge Policy means rules that the Profile Service uses to determine how data from different sources will be combined to create unified Profiles.  Profile Merge Policies may not be used as a replacement for Sandboxes when requiring logical separation to isolate data and operations. Profile Merge Policies are a Shared Feature.

Profile Service means a data store within Adobe Experience Platform where Profiles are created and stored. Profile Service is a Shared Feature.

Pseudonymous Profile means a merged Profile that includes no Directly Identifiable Information. 

Query Service means a service in the Adobe Experience Platform that facilitates Customer's use of standard SQL to query and transform data in Adobe Experience Platform. Query Service is a Shared Feature.

Query Service User means any User making an SQL query to Query Service through the Query Service user interface, Journey Optimizer API, or external system any for data analysis or data exploration. 

Ranking Function means a rule that determines the order in which Personalized Offers will be returned for a given Decision Activity.

Rapid Delivery Messaging means Customer’s ability to send up to 6 million Messages per minute using push Channel that is applicable to the aggregate number of all executed Marketing Programs for up to 5 minutes. Rapid Delivery Messaging supports a maximum of 5 concurrent Marketing Program.

Real-time Journey Orchestration means a version of Journey Orchestration which can support both streaming and batch processing.  

Recipient means the end user that receives Customer's message via any available Channel.

Sandbox means a logical separation within Customer’s instance of any Adobe On-demand Service that accesses Adobe Experience Platform isolating data and operations.  Sandboxes can either be used for production purposes or Non-production Sandboxes. Sandboxes used for production purposes share the authorized entitlements of the base Journey Optimization production system (measured cumulatively across all of Customer’s Sandboxes used for production purposes).  Non-production Sandboxes share the authorized entitlements specified with non-production use cases (measured cumulatively across all of Customer’s authorized Non-production Sandboxes).  Sandboxes are a Shared Feature.

Scoping Parameters means usage limits that relate to the scoping of Customer’s licensed use case.  Should Customer exceed a Scoping Parameter, Adobe will work with Customer to remedy the issue leading to overusage. Should Customer persistently exceed a Scoping Parameter, Customer may be required to license additional capacity. 

Second-generation Data means any data other than First-generation Data. 

Segmentation Service means the service within Adobe Experience Platform that allows Customer to create and manage its Profile segments. Segmentation Service is a Shared Feature.

Send Time Optimization means a process by which machine learning is used to determine the optimal message send time to maximize clicks or opens.

Shared Feature means a feature or functionality and its associated limitations that are shared (i.e., not additive) across all applicable Adobe Experience Platform-based Products and Services licensed by Customer.  If any of Customer’s other applicable Adobe Experience Platform-based Product and Services provide a higher limitation (either because the base-level limitation is higher or because Customer has licensed an available Add-on), the highest limit will apply to all of Customer’s applicable Adobe Experience Platform-based Products and Services.

SMS (Short Message Service) means a Channel which enables Customer to send text messages to mobile devices of Recipients.

Stable Identifier means any identifier other than a cookie ID or device ID. 

Standard Features means those generally available features that enable Customer to manage, orchestrate in batch, author, deliver, measure and optimize Messages to create marketing Journeys targeting Engageable Audiences. Standard Features also includes Adobe Experience Manager Assets Essentials and Deliverability Fundamentals.

Static Limit means a usage limit that relates to the technical boundaries of Journey Optimizer.  Customer may not modify Static Limits. 

Streaming Segmentation means updating segment membership for a Profile as new data enters the Segmentation Service through a streaming flow. Segment membership is evaluated based on the current Profile attributes and the value of the current event, without taking historical behavior into account.  Streaming Segmentation is a Shared Feature.

Tag means an identifier used to group Personalized Offers together for the purpose of creating and managing Collections.

Total Authorized Profile Storage means Total Production Storage plus Total Non-production Storage.  Total Authorized Profile Storage is a Shared Feature.

Total Non-production Storage means Average Non-production Profile Richness (including any Add-ons) multiplied by the number of authorized Non-production Profiles. Total Non-production Storage is a Shared Feature.

Total Production Storage means Average Profile Richness (including any Add-ons) multiplied by the number of authorized Profiles.  Total Production Storage is a Shared Feature.

Transactional Messaging means the ability to manage trigger Messages in real time.  Such real time Messages, as defined herein, will be referred to as Transactional Messages.
