Upgrading ECM Connectors | LiveCycle ES 8.x to ES2

This document shows you how to upgrade a LiveCycle ES 8.x installation with ECM Connectors to LiveCycle ES2. Follow the upgrade procedure best suited for your ECM Connectors' setup.

LiveCycle ES2 does not support your LiveCycle ES 8.x ECM Connector server version

  1. Install a client for the ECM Connector server version that is supported in LiveCycle ES2.
  2. Configure your application server per your upgrade type (in-place or out-of-place) with respect to the new client installed. See Preparing to Upgrade to LiveCycle ES2 from 8.x for more information.
  3. When running LiveCycle Configuration Manager to configure and deploy LiveCycle ES2, make sure that you skip the Form Template Import step. Having completed your upgrade process, ECM Connector services could be in a stopped state because of a mismatch between ECM connectors' client and server versions.
  4. Upgrade your ECM connectors' server and restart your application server.
  5. Restart the services you found in a stopped state in step 3.
  6. Relaunch LiveCycle Configuration Manager and perform the Form Template Import step.

LiveCycle ES2 supports your LiveCycle ES 8.x)ECM Connector server version, but you are installing LiveCycle ES2 on a new machine

  1. Install the same ECM Connector client that is installed on your LiveCycle ES 8.x machine on the new machine.
  2. Configure your application server for the newly installed client. See Preparing to Upgrade to LiveCycle ES2 from 8.x for more information.
  3. Configure and deploy LiveCycle ES2 using LiveCycle Configuration Manager to complete upgrading to LiveCycle ES2 from LiveCycle ES 8.x.

LiveCycle ES2 supports your LiveCycle ES 8.x ECM Connector server version and the machine stays unchanged

  1. Configure your application server per your upgrade type (in-place or out-of-place) with respect to the client version already installed. See Preparing to Upgrade to LiveCycle ES2 from 8.x for more information.
  2. Configure and deploy LiveCycle ES2 using LiveCycle Configuration Manager to complete upgrading to LiveCycle ES2 from LiveCycle ES 8.x.
