Asset share not accessible in Microsoft browsers due to long querystring | AEM Assets

When sharing assets by email using the Link share option, the users are not able to download the files using Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) or Edge browsers.  This issue occurs when the link share contains more than 50 assets.

Environment

AEM Assets 6.2, 6.3

Cause

This issue is due to a limitation of 2083 characters in a GET request in Microsoft browsers.

Resolution

This issue has been solved in AEM 6.4 by changing the method from GET to POST.
